YourPND gets your voice on your navigation system
Sure, those Mr. T / Dennis Hopper navtones were pretty humorous for a trip around the block or two, but seriously, how many times can you stand to hear "fool!" on a trip from Tuscaloosa to Fargo? That being said, we're not confident we'd want to listen to ourselves for that long, but for the folks who feel otherwise, YourPND is out to make your dreams a reality. Though the website wasn't created in our native tongue, it appears that TomTom owners (Garmin, Mio, etc. coming soon) simply record a select number of phrases to the site, after which they can cough up €7 ($10) and download the results on to their navigator. Sounds like the perfect gift for someone who just loathes hearing you talk, don'tcha think?[Via NaviGadget]

I don't know, I much prefer the sexy female British accent over my own voice.
"Turn right in 300 meters" just gets my juices flowing.
This would be perfect for my mother-in-law. "Turn left, run off the cliff, and DIE!!!!"
YourPND? More like YourPWND!
If you get your SO to do it, it will be just like old times of them reading from the map, just minus the yelling
I can see this being pretty cool. I'm sure they will wise up and add some other voices, celebs, etc. kinda like iTunes but for your Nav.
You should have your wife say, "Why don't you just stop and ask for directions" and put that in for "Off Route"
robogeek beat me to the punch with that one! LOL
I can already do this on my TomTom 720 for free right out of the box.
Save $10 and follow the instructions here: http://tomtom.graemelucas.co.uk/tomtomstep1.htm
Wow, thanks dude !!
Sounds like the 1 900 operators will now have a second stream of income.
I like the feature, cause it could enable the possibility of downloading humorous or arousing celebrity voices to accompany you while you try to find somewhere new. Imagine Sean Connery exclaiming "your the man now dog," as you pull up to your destination. Wouldn't ya feel special?
I'm ok with John Cleese/Jeremy Irons/Brigette Bardot
That would be convenient...especially considering how often I'm going from Tuscaloosa to somewhere else. Not necessarily Fargo...
