Acer kicks out Extensa 4620 laptops on the cheap
Sure, Acer may be marketing its Extensa lineup to small business owners, but there's nothing that says bargain hunters can get in on one, too. The 14.1-inch Extensa 4620 comes loaded with Windows XP Professional (sorry, Vista aficionados), 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, GMA 3100 graphics chipset and a six-cell Li-ion good for around two hours. The first of the two 4620 iterations (that'd be the 6294, break out the pencils!) sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 CPU, while the 4620-4054 rocks a T2310. According to Acer, both of the lappies are available now throughout North America for $799 and $699, respectively.

I just got my acer extensa 4620-4605, and want to know if anyone knows about bio-protection and fingerprints did yours come with or is it separate software involved. But I love the computer, it drives well and came loaded.

Nothing to scoff aty for the price, but the Dell Vostro Series is at, or below, that pricepoint, with a 15.4.
:\
Still, not a bad deal considering the specs.

I just recently bought a Extensa 4620Z laptop (4620-4605) from Best Buy. It had a Pentium T2310 CPU, 2GB of RAM, X3100 Intel graphics (actually decent), and a 160GB hard disc. It had Vista also for $597 (it was on sale before the holiday rush), it normally retailed for $799. It runs great!

I bought a Gateway ML6720 from Best Buy two months ago that has the same specs as your extensa minus the Wireless-A (big loss there *rolls eyes*) for $399.00 and it also runs great.
That's not a slam on you or your extensa btw, more of a poke at the implied budget-status of the line.

It think I just bought the same exact one with a 5-1 card reader, Multi DVD drive, etc.. Everything u listed is the same - do u have Vista Basic or Premium? does the dvd drive burn cd's as well? No, I am not a computer wiz. Can it hook up to the TV as well?

I can't decide between one of these guys or an Eee Surf...

LOL .. these things still ship with modems?... where is the 5" floppy drive
pollardito @ Dec 21st 2007 6:40PM
modems are more useful on laptops than desktops since you never know what services will be offered at your motel room in the middle of nowhere
marovada @ Dec 21st 2007 7:53PM

As an Acer user, I would have to say I think Acer makes one hell of a good laptop for the price range. I paid 550 for this one last July and it still works great. It may not be the fastest and only has a Turion ML-32 1.8ghz but I love it.

My vostro 1500 with a core 2 duo 1.6ghz processor (vs this 1.4ghz) 2gb ram (vs this 1gb ram) 160gb hard drive (vs this 120gb) vista business (vs xp home) 9 cell battery (way better battery life than this laptop) nvidia 8400gs (vs this integrated) and upgraded wxga+ screen (vs standard wxga) for 699.

Hmm. My 4620-4605 didn't come with an AC Adapter. :/
