Girl unwraps iPod, finds heavy-handed social commentary instead
As the unfortunate trend continues, yet another kiddo has found their Christmas PMP replaced with something that's, well, not a PMP. In today's episode, we find a Washington, D.C. girl that unwrapped an iPod earlier this week and discovered that the only Apple product tucked within was the inner packaging. Instead, a clever note was stashed inside (presumably with a paperweight of some sort) that read: "Reclaim your mind from the media shackles. Read a book and resurrect yourself. To claim your capitalistic garbage go to your nearest Apple store." Oh, and just in case you really needed more than one guess as to where this thing came from, here's a hint: it was sold by the same retailer who passed on Wii demo units due to "safety" concerns.

That is so freaky funny. I would love to see the reaction on her face when she opened it. HAHAHAHA!!!!
I do not get these leftist commies. A person actually took their time to STEAL from a company and now a family who bought such gift for their daughter? How cruel. Maybe they need to take a look at their own inner soul.
Kinda of reminds me of those extreme environmentalists out in CA who burned down an entire SUV dealership. The fumes from the fire did more HARM than those SUVs would have done after being purchased.
I hope Apple gives this girl a gift and maybe then some.
Wonder if any there are any finger prints on that letter???
They had to pay the guy somehow, I'm sure he can be tracked one way or another...
What's funny is that the DC area has one of the biggest concentrations of Apple Retail stores outside of California. There are actually almost as many Apple stores as there are WalMarts in the metro area. So the father really should have first gone shopping at his nearest Apple store instead of a WalMart.
dont forget there was a phonebook in a kid's playstation 3
Books are media. Outdated media. Television, videogames, movies and music have taken over entertainment and the internet has taken over education.
Should we give up cars and go back to riding horses? It's older therefore it must be more pure!
the difference between books and tv (IMO) is thought. You don't just go to a bookstore and buy 10 books on a whim, but you can just turn on the tv and watch mindless drivel like America's Next anorexic bitch.
oh that crazy Balmer.
That guy has a really shitty typewriter.
I dunno, but the more dissapointed iPod folks, the better.
"I like it because of the clicky wheel and it's cute! THAT'S WORTH THE PREMIUM! Tee hee, itunes!"
Should be grounds for capital punishment!
Who the hell is still buying iPods let alone iPods at WalMart?
Buy your cheap electronics at an Electronics store not WalMart, not like you're gonna get it cheaper at WalMart anyway
actually walmarts in Canada sell 'em at US prices versus other outlets who sell 'em at Canadian prices.
Perhaps it was a commie factory worker over in China? Their way of a little joke...
Aren't books a type of media?
I'm just sayin...
Why read a book when I can read Engadget posts? Reading is Reading Billy Jean!
Heil V!
Want to escape capitalism's trap? Get a Chinese MP4 player!
i dont understand how the people that bought that ipod for the girl didnt notice that there was a piece of paper in the package instead of an ipod.
Oh, come on!
If Steve Jobs announced that Apple was now selling new and improved
iRansom Notes (Now fully compatible with iThreat software!) you guys
would falling all over yourselves to line up and spend three hundred
bucks on it. And you'd be jealous of this girl for getting her hands
on a pre-release prototype. Someone would undoubtedly buy it for
$2500 on eBay.
