New WiDRIVE line includes 2.5-inch support, BitTorrent
We spotted these guys hiding out in a teensy booth at CeBIT back in 2006, but EDS Lab has resurfaced with its WiDRIVE line -- and it's just getting better. The WiFi drive enclosures now come in 1.8-inch (PX-100) and 2.5-inch (DX-225) versions, but now also support a BitTorrent client, RSS podcast subscriptions and a built-in web server. You can connect to the drive using a number of networking standards, including DHCP, WebDav UPnP and Bonjour, but if 802.11b/g speeds aren't good enough for you, you're out of luck: the USB port is for charging only.

Tab: You're a dick. Go entertain your easily-amused, immature self with something shiny, rather than wasting our time with pointless, annoying "FIRST" posts.
As for the article, is there any word on pricing or availability? I would've been interested even without the Bittorrent, but it just adds sweet, cream-cheese icing to the already delicious carrot cake. A wire-free media streamer with auto RSS and Bittorrent capability? YES.

*sigh*.. isn't it always when we're ratting out someone else for breaking posting rules, that the comments system catastrophically fails leading to a triple post? (For those who say activate only one, I have a password to bypass e-mail activation. It's what its for).
Apologies, anyways.
karma
Pointless comments a part...
How is possible that this disk can be only accessed throught a WiFi network and not by cable? I means, in a protected WiFi network, should be at least a way to configure this device, or it works only in unprotected networks?
P.S.: guys, if you reply to stupid comments, you made the game of the stupid poster, hiding actual comments like this one.
Makes sense.
Probably has some kind of protection like routers do. But I'm curious.
Anyway, this sounds excellent, I hope it's not too expensive.
Yes. I don't think I can already find it in the stores, here in NL, but since I have to return my 1Tb LaCie (is a scam: be warned. I corrupted the disk after less than a week. This product is not even in the LaCie's website), I was thinking about a device like that.
I will try to find it.
I'm wondering how one will set it up. If I have a protected network then it sounds like I have to get the thing onto the network before I can get into the setup, but to get it on the network it must already know my network key.
Indeed.
Is what I was trying to say.
I think there is _at least_ a way to configure this device using the USB connection.
Yeah, first-posters will not be rewarded... Except to say, KITTY!
Your kitty's got nice eyes.

You mean the 1Tb LaCie Ethernet Big Disk? It's still on the website here:
http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?pid=10882
- you have to look under Network Storage to get there.
I have one and I'm very happy with it - or at least I was until I heard about this one which seems to do a little bit more...
If only it was a Wii drive :(
No, is just an USB drive. Is not the Ethernet one. And, as I wrote above, is not even listed on the website. LaCie forgot to put on the products list, or MediaMarkt is selling fake products? :S
USB charging? Does it have a battery, makes no sense to have a wireless and battery powered network drive, those things are meant to be on forever...
Unless you want to pair it with your iPhone to complement its measly storage space, then you would like a self-powered portable HD.
wonder why the omitted USB transfers. not a smart idea.
I thought Wii was spelled with 2 i's.
hi:
i am from edslab.
px-100 is compact model with usb tranfser.
the upcoming px-225 is semi portable model. it HAS usb transfer.
oops...i meant
px-100 is compact model without usb transfer.
px-225 is the one WITH usb 2.0 transfer (mass storage).
