Another day, another promise of a
low-cost computer, this one coming to us from the prolific folks at
Gigabyte. According to DigiTimes, Gigabyte will be building its system itself (unlike its
UMPCs and MIDs), and it'll be basing it on Intel's Basic Platform (otherwise known as
Shelton). It'll also apparently pack a 7 to 9-inch LCD, which would seem to suggest that it's a laptop (which Shelton is also used for), although DigiTimes only describes the system as a "PC." Unfortunately, there's no word on what it'll cost, or any other details for that matter, but it'll apparently be ready by June of this year, by which time it'll likely have an even harder time to stand out from the budget-priced pack.
Let's hope it looks like a Laptop and not a Leapfrog Vtec learning toy.
LMAO. You are so right.
But what if I happen to be a fan of the retro pre-school look? Who says computer design has to grow up?
"...Unfortunately, there's no word on what it'll cost,..." how do you know it will be low cost?
That logo reminds me too much of Commodore.
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. I saw the logo and thought it might be another article on the Commodore Gaming boxes.

+1 for you my friend. I was thinking the same thing!
damn, I was looking into getting an Eee next month, but at the rate all these various companies are announcing their plans to compete with Asus, I'm just going to have to hold off and see.
They need to get their design teams to build a little PC capable of running Vista - like that OQO machine... but cheap. Then I'd bereally impressed.
Linux can run on a chickens brain... and to me these keboards and screens are too small.
I always like Gigabyte. I hope this thing is awesome. Although, I wont be able to buy one anyway, having no money. A gadget lover with no money... so sad.
