T-Mobile Germany rolls deep with 16GB version of MDA Ameo
That mighty beast of a smartphone, HTC's Athena -- known better as the Advantage in retail trim -- is getting a modest upgrade in its MDA Ameo guise on T-Mobile Germany. The big news is the bump in the Ameo's hard drive from 8GB to 16GB (would be nice if that was an SSD, but you can't win 'em all) while other changes include a "modified arrangement" of the keyboard (their words, not ours) and the inclusion of Office Mobile 6.1. It'll run €459 (about $675) when it hits in April. And no, we're pretty sure the 16GB hard drive and rearranged keyboard don't make it any less awkward in the hand.[Via the::unwired]

I have the 8gb edition, SSD would be a requisite for me to upgrade, that and dropping the keyboard, the graffiti text input with predictive text works well enough.
Now if only someone made a silicone case for it...
16 Gb? I can't believe it. Maytag Parts had it on sale but the card was of only 8Gb so I don't get it.
Can anyone tell me what is so hard to put a large amount of flash memory/SSD into this thing? If I ever got one(which I almost did) I think I'd forgoe the microdrive altogether for fear that it would be slow or not work precisely when I wanted it to.
best phone out there and best phone u can have. 16gb will be a nice addition. the microdrive btw on xda we are trying to swap out for a usb stick or something similar. im happy though with my 8gb microdrive which i have had 0 problems with knock on wood and a 8gb microsdhc with minisd adapter.
Although I am really keen on this model, I have read on the xda developers forum that so many people have had nightmare problems with the microdrive. ie drive using the gps, screen freezes, reset, all data lost on md ( 3 people experienced this ); all cd collection lost after freeze up; and many other users had similiar problems, so far HTC has not come up with any solution..I have also written and after 1 wk I am still waiting for a reply....Any comments ?
