Alienware's
Hangar 18:HD 1080p media server -- the rackmountable
high end edition of the already impressive
Hangar 18 -- has officially launched. The silver beast promises up to 4TB of hard drive space, Blu-ray read/write, 1080p output, CableCard support and Dolby Digital 7.1 sounds. We suggest you don't ask how much it costs, it just shows how woefully far
we you are away from being able to afford it. Those ready to jump into the high priced
media server market can contact their local authorized reseller and loose themselves of the Benjamins that can so uselessly clog ones bank account.

wiedzmin @ Jan 31st 2008 5:46PM

Leo @ Jan 31st 2008 6:16PM
yeah yeah pricey we get it but if you gotta go the PC route and don't wanna build you're own flavour then Alienware's great - they're the Mac of the PC world... Apple set a trend with their "appletax" (rhymes with apple mac's get it?) wherein you pay a premium just because it's apple, but a lot of people don't mind because usually it means you're gonna get a great product...

It starts at $2,199 according to the Alienware site.

How many blu-ray movies can 4TB's fit? 10?
willyboy @ Jan 31st 2008 7:29PM
As an apple fanbra, I am gonna give this a "thumbs up" . Like the packaging!

That case is nice... I have been looking for (and thinking of creating my own) a good case to rack mount my array.

Wake me up when I can buy a CableCard reader by itself... until then, fvck CableLabs, and any exceedingly overpriced product they touch!
