Dell Latitude E-series leaked

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
someone get OS X86 running on one of these things right away. the 12" in particular. I miss my 12" Powerbook.
Damn!! Just as I bought an old m1210 since it was the only decent 12" that was cheap...
Do you reckon Engadget will be publishing daily news bulletin tracking every question, rumour and confirmed fact concerning the delivery date of this new laptop for weeks on end?
Why, of course not! Only laptops that come from Herr Jobs are bestowed that honour, despite this laptop looking infinitely more interesting.
I like what Dell have been doing recently, The M1330 is a great looking machine and this one looks even better.
Too bad the 15.4" will only have WXGA+ at best. The main reason I have gone with Latitudes in the past was that I could get WUXGA.
SD slot, guys? Please?
Nice to see laptop makers realise people dont like carrying computers around that makes them look like a dag.
judging by the keyboard it seems like the screen will have a large bezel.
I hope this means a new (or atleast upgraded) 2510p from HP will come out.
in the market for a 12.1" right now, so this is great news
looks nice.
maybe this will be a replacement for the 12" apple laptops?
What an amazing looking Latitude! My company just issued me a Latitude D620 and after one look at this E- Series, I'm ready to turn it back in. :p
gaming laptop or not... all the new integrated graphics support World of Warcraft like a charm... Crysis is not the only game!
This lappy look sweet... no idea about price?
I wonder what it look like front view...
more pics please
When is Dell going to catch a clue and start adding real resolutions to their laptops. At least me WSXGA+ an option, Dell! I understand that it is not for everyone, but I for one am tired of needlessly scrolling and tweaking my browser into oblivion to get pages to fit properly. Apparently I'm in the vast minority since because Dell continues to sell millions of latitudes , despite their woefully deficient graphics.
I knew my college issued d630 would be a bad investment...
that thing just screams sexy...
This is such great news. Imo the Latitude ultraportable series are the best ones ever made. I've owned the Latitude X1 and D420 and out of the seven or so laptops that I've had they have been by far the best. I really hope they will drop the trackpoint on the 12-inch version though. Has anyone else noticed the keyboard buttons btw? They look like they're made out of metal. NICE!
Doesn't anyone read the Dell Forums or go to IdeaStorm? I posted an idea to improve the Latitudes last year http://www.ideastorm.com/article/show/66820/Put_some_attitude_into_the_Latitude
They had marked it under review so hopefully they are adding some of the things I asked for like better sound and video options. After the first leak about the Dell Ultraportable I got a little information on the Storm Room section of the Dell Forums.

"This is a high-performance notebook concept designed for digital content creation (video editing, music arrangement, photo editing) and CAD with aluminum extrusion and carbon fiber as part of the system. It is 20 millimeters thick with an LED black-lit display."
Hey! I scouped Engadget. :D
Oh, I forgot. Looking at the earlier shots posted here I was able to zoom in and see a slot load DVD drive on the left side.
Awesome!!! I love it. That explains why the price of the other models fell recently. Nice post.

Truth about scientology
Please DELL ... matte screens. Please.
This could be a thing a beauty, but get rid of that silver crap at the hinge and make it a smooth, black back.
And did anyone notice the chiclet style keyboard? Very nice.
It does sort of look like a chicklet keyboard from that angle, but I don't think it is. I can sort of see beveled edges on those keys and it seems unlikely to me that if Dell was going to introduce a laptop with that style keyboard that it would be on one of their business models.
Umm...they copied the looks from an Asus W3J, which has the same brushed metal lid. Actually, many Asus laptops had brushed metal lids, years ago.
How uber cool is that! I dont like 15.4" will only have WXGA+ at best!

Looks like a Macbook. Copycats.
i like it. time to start savin up! =)
I have always been more of a "tit-man" myself. This ass-view is ok but doesn't really tell you enough to justify the cream that a lot of people are giving it here.
But if the Tits are as good as the ass, Kirrr-chink !! sale here !!
Please inform when the 12 inch version will be on the market. I need to buy a new ultraportable laptop since my X1 is getting old. I'm looking at Sony, Toshiba etc. alternatives, but prefer Dell if it is as light as the X1.
Much better than my company-issued D620.
Can we even think that it would be available with XP?
I was advised today of a June launch in Australia
One model in the series will weigh in at 4.25 pounds with a 14.1-inch screen. Another model will be slightly heavier and larger - weighing in at 5 pounds and offer a 15.4-inch screen. Both of these models come with WXGA and WXGA + LED backlight displays. Additionally, two other laptops are the 12-incher, as pictured above, and the 13.3-inch. Also, there will be many ports including DisplayPort, eSATA, USB and PC or ExpressCard slots. No word on pricing or availability as of yet, expect more details when they are announced.
