Apple store is down: 16GB iPhone imminent?
Listen up pilgrims. It's Apple's favorite product launch day -- Tuesday -- and we're once again sitting on a pile of rumors. So what's it going to be? A 16GB bump to the iPhone, new MacBook Pros running Intel's latest mobile Penryn processor with enhanced multi-touch touchpad, or maybe a few more countries added to the iPhone rollout in Europe? Who knows. Really, anyone know?

The UK store did go down for a short while this morning but came up and I cant see any difference. I did notice that the iPhone is now referred to as the iPhone 8GB rather than just the iPhone but cant remember if thats the way its always been?
Maze1023 @ Feb 5th 2008 6:57AM
Ok. i just bought the iphone a week ago. if apple comes out with this new 16gb iphone im just gonna have to return my 8gb iphone. i really dont care if they charge me 40 bucks for returning the used iphone...twice the memory is well worth it.
hopefully they lower the price of the 8gb iphone and keep the price of 399.99 for the 16gb iphone...i'd like that :)
jas @ Feb 5th 2008 7:03AM
aaarghh the bloody iphone. im sick of hearing about what i cant have, forget more capacity, just get the bloody thing down under!
Adam @ Feb 5th 2008 7:03AM
Show me the AppleTV update!! You know you want to...
Eckofish @ Feb 5th 2008 7:03AM
Lets push for a 5MP camera, video, 16GB, 3G, Haptics Screen, Regular Headphone Jack, and Wireless N.
Funny thing is, all of the above it entirely possible and has been achieved by other providers. Aside from the 16GB memory and Wireless N.
When the 3G version is released I'm snapping it up right away.
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:30AM
Umm the iPhone has a standard headphone jack. A little recessed, yes. But my Bose headphones fit perfectly.
Arno @ Feb 5th 2008 7:07AM
It's the new MBP! Mark my words!
ahdok @ Feb 5th 2008 7:09AM
they're oppening up apple "marketstall" where you can order various fruit baskets to be delivered with gift products. At the moment you can choose between oranges or bananas.
gg @ Feb 5th 2008 7:17AM
finally the rumors are coming true! apple is competing on Super-Tuesday with the new MacBook Pro updates!!!
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:12AM
Oh come on, no apples!?
rav97 @ Feb 5th 2008 7:21AM
Aren't things like these supposed to go through FCC first? So, how comes we haven't heard of it in one of those "FCC Fridays" a few fridays ago?
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:09AM
Capacity changes don't have to go through the FCC.
umijin @ Feb 5th 2008 7:34AM
Japan store is still up. Must be something limited.
Jason Collin @ Feb 5th 2008 8:24AM
I'm not even going to hope for an iPhone this year in Japan.
Michael Marquez @ Feb 5th 2008 7:40AM
It may be mundane but I would like some display updates in either price or performance. With the new Mac Pro out, it should be soon.
Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 7:41AM
UK Store still up despite reports, im freaking out the "Chat now" people about 16GB iPhones at 1.30.....
Vetle Halvorsen @ Feb 5th 2008 7:42AM
The Norwegian store is online as well, seems to be no changes.
Tom @ Feb 5th 2008 7:43AM
Belgian store is still online so no Macbook Pro I suppose
Seth @ Feb 5th 2008 7:45AM

Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 7:48AM
Mac mini update WOULD be nice
Christopher Lloyd @ Feb 5th 2008 7:51AM
I just want a tiny tiny update to the imac. I want one so much but I'm not gonna get it until there's something new... Even if it's just a weenie spec jump
Twitchy @ Feb 5th 2008 8:27AM
Ditto. Here's hoping for a graphic card upgrade, anincrease of base RAM to 2GB, and a couple of extra powered USB slots plz.
Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 7:56AM
are we completely sure this isnt the SDK?
Steve did say late February didn't he....late meaning like the 29th, which incidentally is a leap day so they could make some marketing gimmick out of that....
Jake @ Feb 5th 2008 8:00AM
Did anyone think it just might be the Apple TV shipping?
Phil @ Feb 5th 2008 8:01AM
Im going to be pissed if its a new iphone, i just bought an 8gb last night, and att has that horrible 10% restocking fee.
Junket @ Feb 5th 2008 8:02AM
Could it be the release of the Canadian iPhone?
Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 8:04AM
they would have pre-announced a Canadian iPhone
Primoz @ Feb 5th 2008 8:03AM
It's about time iPhone get's released in other EU countries... I want that badass!!! What's the point of not getting it into stores other then Germany, UK and France!

Your tears are delicious.
crescentdavid @ Feb 5th 2008 8:08AM
Not to be a troll, but is it just an Apple thing to take your whole freaking store site down in order to do an incremental (and they're all incremental) update?
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:11AM
Yes. It's intended to cause things like this post.
cyrus @ Feb 5th 2008 8:11AM
Apple store is down in Karzastan. Ooops... it's never been here in the first place :/
Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 8:13AM
I suppose taking the whole thing down makes sure the update cannot be missed and creates a lot of buzz
vermaak @ Feb 5th 2008 8:14AM
There is a 16 gig Iphone on the uk store along side the 8 gig! £269 and the 8 gig is £199

Oh yes, we believe you
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:22AM
Too bad it'll be OTB 1.1.3, otherwise I would go and exchange my phone. Ugh, I can't wait for a true jailbreak of 1.1.3 with the baseband and everything.
Oh well, that's the price I pay for unlocking it!
Drew @ Feb 5th 2008 8:23AM
Does anyone know if Apple offers like a 15 or 30 day price match or anything of the sort?
Peter @ Feb 5th 2008 8:24AM
From the look of what the Register is reporting in the UK it could well be a 16Gb iPhone to be added to the collection.
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/02/05/16gb_iphone_to_launch_in_uk_today/
Phelim @ Feb 5th 2008 8:26AM
No, but you can return items within 14 days of purchase if you pay a restocking fee or something
blairseip @ Feb 5th 2008 8:26AM
