Apple TV (take 2) update now available
A couple of tipsters have reported that the delayed Apple TV "take 2" update is finally available, right on schedule. It's reportedly a 5 minute download, but that's all the info we've got until Apple gets official about it. Let us know if it works for you.

Update: Looks like plenty of people are having luck with the update, so good on them. No word on how this will affect your hacked Apple TV yet, so you might want to hold off until braver souls sort it all out.

I forgot to TIVO update one... I am bummed. Now I won't know whats going on. I'll just wait for the whole first season to come out on DVD (HD-DVD of course).
Reading all these posts gives me a thought: you could rent a new movie (pick your source, ATV, netflix, whatevs) almost every day and still pay less per month than for CrapCast.
Is it affordable... http://www.kanati.com.ph
Is your post spam...
How does this help European Apple TV owners or wanna-haves?
There are still no movie or TV show rentals here yet, right?
Still doesn't beat Windows Media Center on TV, but competition is good.
Nice work Apple.
So when is every iPod going to have the functionality of Apple TV?
I am starting to think of Apple TV as the iPod that doesn't yet fit in a portable package. UI will need to support both portable and big screen versions - but the capabilities should be identical.
I know us Apple product users have a ton of loyal programmers out there looking for an opportunity to make a name for themselves. Here is an opportunity. Apple is losing its vision. I want to begin of list of hacks that we as AppleTV owners would like create in order to make the AppleTV what it needs to be to gain real world exposure.
#1 What the hell is going to happen to all the movie I already own am i suppose to dump them and buy new ones from the apple store - to that i say, FU Apple.
- We need to be able to manage our current content
- Include PG-13 - R system so we can tie the parental feature in with our current content.
- Current content needs to be categories so UI doesn't load 300 MPG4 in one instance
#2. NetFlix rental content - It would be freaking awesome if i could connect my Netflix subscription to watch movies on AppleTV or apple needs to come up with a similar solution.
#3. Bring movie out of the theatre quicker than DVD and put them on my AppleTV or skip the theatre all together
#4. when are going to allow people to freely write code for IPhone, AppleTV and etc.
#5. Takes to long to connect to my shared Apple Library
#6. I want to play games on it. – emulators would be nice
#7. USB should be able to be used for - keyboards, cameras, etc..
#8. I want to browse the internet, google maps or earth would be nice
#9. Basically i want to make this a product i want to use everyday instead of now and then.
If you are out there listen apple we are talking are you listening?
Don't be another Microsoft or Vista failure.
Did the update without a problem.
The airtunes func. works great and the music stays in sych.
And the typing keyboard works much better than it did before no more of that annoying letter skips when changing up and down.
Only problem is the TV show section is not filtered depending on your country. In Canada we do not have the same shows available that the US has. But I can see them all then when I finally get through the whole process to order and press ok message "NOT AVAILABLE" pops up. That really is a tease. Should at lease have a sign on the show that says "N/A in Canada" or something before the whole order process.
I have had AppleTV for over a year and it has always been phenomenal to use.It is hooked to my 1080i Sony XBR via component input, AND also to my Slingbox Pro HD input. I can watch all my iTunes content on the Sony TV or from any Mac or (the horror...) any PC remotely, running the free Slingplayer app. Streaming within my Apple Extreme WiFi network yields over 4mbs/sec of HD quality video onto my Intel Macbook or iMac...remote connection outside network are slower.
I can also stream it to my Palm Treo 700p at 250k/sec over EVDO, so I can access my ATV from anywhere, even in my car zooming 65 mph down the highway!
