Okay, we
suppose cellphone companies trumpeting some sort of fuel cell technology isn't
that weird, but nevertheless, Moto sure seems
proud of its most recent advancements. Showcased at this year's Mobile World Congress are a number of "alternative power solutions including fuel cell and reflow batteries," which can be deployed in most every wireless / mobile environment out there. More specifically, the outfit is demonstrating a fuel cell-powered WiMAX base station, and it's also suggesting that said technology could "further guarantee [the] availability of uninterrupted power" in TETRA radio networks that are used in public safety environments. Fascinating, no?

i wonder why moto is wasting their resources , they really need to come up with decent handsets if they dont want to die .

the cellphone part is only a small part of the company.

They're already dead in the cellphone business. They just haven't been buried yet. They no longer should be in the handset business. They ruined the brand name and will never recover. It's hopeless for them to compete against the likes of Nokia and RIM.

Moto has a long way to go in terms of making a legit claim for us to all SWITCH batteries...
i mean... i don't care if the battery wipes my butt for me, i'm not gonna pay 150 dollars or more for a new battery.
Include it with ONLY their new handsets...
now that will jumpstart their buisness...
Taylor @ Feb 13th 2008 1:29PM
Seriously, how is this weird at all? Handset makers have a significant interest in new battery technology, and Motorola does a lot more than just handsets anyway. If it's odd for handset makers to do this, what kind of company do you suggest should be making fuel cells? Besides, isn't Samsung in this game too? I find it really strange that you think this is strange...

Yeah they do a lot more than handsets. Ever watch an NFL game??? What brand of headsets is EVERYONE on the field wearing??? Yeah, Motorola.
