While I have a PS3 thats perfect, my brother-in-law has an xbox and 4 of my friends...none of which have any problems, since upgrading to the newest firmwares.
i've had mine for a year and a half...no problems! it gets frequent use, and i'll sometimes leave it on for a few hours, paused. i hear that keeping the 360 vertical helps cause the RRoD's, and mine's in my entertainment center horizontally.
