Paramount officially Blu-ray (again)
Michael Bay can breathe easy, Paramount (Dreamworks included) has officially gone Blu-ray. Two and a half years after announcing itself purple, and exactly five months after becoming HD DVD exclusive, this move makes all six major Hollywood studios Blu. Don't make space for that Blu edition of Transformers in your DVD rack just yet, as the company plans to "monitor consumer adoption and determine our release plans accordingly", but with PS3 sales up and BD Live on the way, we can't imagine it will take very long. The Hollywood Reporter expects to see Universal and Paramount new releases hitting Blu-ray and DVD at the same time by late spring or early summer, when we can forget this whole thing ever happened -- unless of course you picked up an HD DVD player for Shrek, in which case we have a few ideas on what to do next.[Thanks to Robert and everyone who sent this in]

I wonder if the BD version of Transformers will be as interactive as the HD-DVD version with all of the extras and web downloads/interactivity?
If that's the plan they may be waiting for the 2.0 profile to be finalized. I think that is also the reason we haven't seen the Matrix on blu ray yet.
Having seem how much fun you guys have had with the photochopped images I think that you are happier than anyone of us readers that HD-DVD has fallen.
but is this the final nail in the coffin?
No, the final nail in the coffin was this:

I think the 'orly?' owl has something to say to this article.
I heard Sony is now going HD-DVD, can anyone confirm this rumor kthx!
Totally untrue. Now that BD won, Sony's next goal is to release the first consumer BD recorder before Samsung jumps ahead (yep, Sammie's first BD player was the first to market, even before Sony's first BD player and much even before the PS3). Also, now that Sony has launched SACD players for automobiles, it now needs to add SACD-playback support to its BD players and PC drives (so I can enjoy SACD on my BD-ready custom-built AMD64 media center).
O RLY?
doesn't matter, blu will find a way so that with every profile you will have to purchase a new player, oh wait that is already going on
I've had the same Blu Ray player since December of 2006 and continually buy new Blu Ray movies and have NEVER not been able to play one. Do you even know what you're talking about?
What's HD-DVD again?
It's what I got from your moms...no wait, that was an STD, sorry for the confusion.
who wants to post the team america song about pearl harbor again? you'd seriously win without even having to go for it
michael bay doesn't even know that theres different versions of blu-ray and thus the delays on transformers
interesting how conjecture has spontaneously turned into fact in this your comment.
"Late spring or early summer"?? WTF?!? You mean these studios didn't have contingency plans in place in case their format lost? The same goes for the Blu-Ray studios.
So when will we see Star Trek on Blu-Ray! Toshiba bailed on financing the season 2 remastering for HD DVD. Put season 1 on Blu-Ray and see if it sells better than its red-haired cousin.
Michael Bay needs STFU already! Really starting to not like this guy..
"Two and a half years after announcing itself purple, and exactly five months after becoming HD DVD exclusive, this move makes all six major Hollywood studios Blu"
But what about all the smaller studios that release the real quality movies? When will they go Blu?
may not have noticed the jay-z reference "breathe easy"
Awkward...
No matter who won the format war one thing will always be true:
Michael Bay is a c*cksucker and a bastard.
okay MF'ers give me my transformers BD k thx bye
I've been waiting a long time for Transformers to come out in Blu-ray!
