Pranksters invade Starbucks with desktop computers
We've already seen the confusion and hilarity some so-called "portable" computers can cause when taken out into public, but those shenanigans are nothing compared to the scene stirred up when the folks from Improv Everywhere lugged some ancient desktop computers (replete with CRT monitors) into a Starbucks. As you can see in the video after the break, they surprisingly weren't kicked out, but they did manage to attract a fair bit of attention, including from a few folks that thought the computers were set up for public use. Be sure to head up the read link below for the full report, as well as another video with the team relishing in their accomplishment.

If I ever get it working, I am so doing this with my Power Macintosh G3 All In One. The fat bastard weighs nearly 60 pounds. Should draw some looks, since it resembles a giant tooth. I actually have some Apple IIs I can do this with. If I ever invest in a blueflash card and get a phone with BT, then I could get on the web with one :D
I work for Starbucks and i can't quite seem to understand what the big deal about this is. Who cares if they bring a desktop into a Starbucks and use it, more power to them, its a place to sit and relax, weither it be on a laptop or a desktop it really is not anything that makes that much of a stir up.
And to all you people who say people who sit at Starbucks for hours on their laptop's are stupid, sit in a Starbucks for an hour and observe the environment and service you recieve, then go to a McDonalds and do the same thing and tell me which one was more relaxing.
it is also pretty fun to watch the yuppies get aggravated by the computers. i don't understand why it would bother them, but apparently it does.
You must be really proud that you offer a better service than macdonalds, cos they set such a high standard.
LMAO, great stuff...
Wow I didn’t realize Dave Attell was out of a job on living on the streets now…
I work for starbucks -- this wouldn't bug me much. I once had to do some flyers and my wi-fi at home was down, so I brought my lexmark scanner/printer/copier and my 21' laptop with a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, it was a lot of junk -- not as much as them. Thing is, as long as it isn't looking up porn or some such -- i doubt you'll get kicked out of most sbux's. We'd probably just laugh.
Can u imagine them playing Pacman? Classic...
Nice, this posting let me discover ImprovEverything, which I now enjoy greatly.
I meant ImprovEverywhere
Reminds me of those ridiculous 20" notebooks...
LMAO!!!
Awesome.
I'm sorry man, but you've gotta stop using 'replete' incorrectly. It isn't really supposed to be a replacement for 'complete.'
The girl visited the orchard replete with apples. (meaning 'in abundance of')
vs.
The guys brought their computers complete with CRT monitors.
AMEN. sorry I missed your post before adding my own.
"replete" with CRT monitors? really? They were filled with CRT monitors? CRT monitors were in abundance?
pwnd
Now, who said that portable = small size???? Any1
Kudos to the brilliant minds that put this together. i love the sheer confusion that these 5 dollar coffee drinking ass monkeys that bring there laptop and must do there life's work in front of everyone. I cant imagine what was going through their heads. "Damn, i wish i could my paper on what life is, but the noise of the PC booting is interrupting my flow". LOL.
I hope one of them brought a hub and played a few rounds of Duke Nukem, Doom, and Shadow Warrior. What else is there to do on a Win 95/98 computer?
Great stuff. And I was just about to buy myself a new macbook ;D
I'm so digging out my old C64, Atari and Amiga from the basement....
