The best HDTV will be the Pioneer 8G sets currently out now (or nearly sold out everywhere) and atleast for the rest of this year. The new 2008 Panasonics are improved over the 2007 models, but are still inferior to the 2007 Kuro. 9G Pioneers will be downgraded in build quality using Panasonic parts (like the glass) to make them cheaper to sell.
For those looking for a device strictly for reading, the new Kobo is a nice little option. It's small enough to slip into a pocket, can do more with a PDF than the competition, and at $129, it's $10 cheaper than both the Nook and Kindle WiFi.
