i think they're just anthropomorphizing the ipod.
oh.. animals were harmed... like the bloody-rare Outback Steakhouse burger with bacon on it that he ate afterwords to treat himself to not waking up in flames.. tragedy averted and tasty animals devoured. mmm. =Þ
They aren't anthropomorphising it, that would be to make it look human, something that even a burnt iPod can't manage!
