Acer "blue" teased for mystery launch
That friends, is Acer's teaser for a new "notebook PC concept" set for release in New York later today. We're not sure what it is, but it's not very often that the unveiling of a concept device (which may or may not be manufactured) warrants a press event hosted by a company's president. In this case, Acer's Vista-hatin' prez, Gianfranco Lanci. Whatever it is, that hint of a multi-media, touch controller is not something we'd expect to see on their Eee PC killer.

Perhaps it allows external control of the media player with the top closed? A touch screen casing, perhaps?

'Tis gonna be one hot looking laptop!

it always feels like i've already read half the posts here. especially since pretty much everything on engadget was of gizmodo the day before.
AutoTom @ Mar 12th 2008 7:24AM
yes prad, there's another 200 websites that do it
you're new at this, huh.
thef1re @ Mar 12th 2008 7:40AM
wow they didnt changing anything, the title and the article article body is 100% plagiarised...
SimonRichards @ Mar 12th 2008 7:40AM
"its my first day..."
Adam @ Mar 12th 2008 8:20AM
untrue, they changed "by a company's president." to "by a company's CEO."
Clearly this makes this article different and is not considered plagiarism...
John @ Mar 12th 2008 8:44AM
Stole the article about the F-117 too. And another, but on THAT one it says "Source: Engadget" at least. I guess it got hard, adding the tag.

Yet it breaks in your hands. I have had 2 Acer laptops which the build quality has been totally poor.
The branding looks tacky. It looks very 90's (not in a good way either) and something to come from a blue porno movie.

I never payed atention to laptops/pcs in pr0n. thats not good I think, you should get checked out
vance @ Mar 12th 2008 6:37AM
There are scores of blogs out there that copy content from popular ones. They hope to score a few adsense clicks along the way.
vance @ Mar 12th 2008 6:57AM
Other sites are saying it's going to be a widescreen, Blu-Ray laptop coming at $1,900. If true, that's a long ways from an Eee-class device.
quomen @ Mar 12th 2008 7:14AM
I got excited for a second because I thought you wrote Asus.
Needless to say, we're probably all going to be disappointed.
AutoTom @ Mar 12th 2008 7:23AM
i already dont like it.
it's so... messy
ethana2 @ Mar 12th 2008 7:26AM
What choice of OS? We'll see....
fred @ Mar 12th 2008 8:09AM
If they want the thing to sell at all, they will use Windows. Put Linux on there and watch how fast it doest sell like that one that was sold at Wal-Mart.
ethana2 @ Mar 12th 2008 5:05PM
So, fred.. you mean to say that offering /two/ operating systems instead of /one/ will make sales ...drop..
FAIL
fred @ Mar 12th 2008 8:07AM
"warrants a press event hosted by a company's president. In this case, Acer's Vista-hatin' prez, Gianfranco Lanci."
irreverent statement tossed in for God knows what reason.
Oh yeah, Thomas Ricker posted this.
Matias Korhonen @ Mar 12th 2008 8:18AM
"If they want the thing to sell at all, they will use Windows."
Yeah, 'cause Asus is having such trouble selling the Eee PC...
fred @ Mar 12th 2008 9:18AM
No trouble as people keep buying them and putting Windows on it.
If it was Linux only, they wouldn't be moving them as much.
qwert @ Mar 12th 2008 8:22AM
well, if apple can has a press event on everything, why cant acer do this too?
i think it is ridiculous (with both apple and acer), but the whole press event thing seems to be all the rage now.
but i guess we will all be dissaponted. remeber the last thing acer had a teaser for?
http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/02/acer-aspire-gemstone-laptop-concept-to-be-unveiled-friday/
the ugly and boring gemstone.
the only thing from acer that im mildly interested in is their "eee killer".
Saad Rabia @ Mar 12th 2008 8:41AM
It's going to be a computer that looks and has all the components other computers in the market has, but waittt, that's not all, it is going to be: in Blue!! Holly Shit, goosebumps!
John @ Mar 12th 2008 9:46AM
LOL that logo is so neo-90's.
Moose @ Mar 12th 2008 11:21AM
Judging from the logo, it will likely be somehow related to Miami Vice... And now that I have written my witticism, I see that it is not nearly as original as I thought.

They actually had a full page add in 'Metro', one of the free dutch newspapers, with the exact image ;) Was a bit surprised to see it actually
