Nokia N810 with WiMAX set to launch at CTIA on April 1st?

Remember the rumor we saw floating about a few weeks ago about a Nokia N810 refresh? Well, the lads at The Boy Genius Report are reporting -- on a rumor mind you -- that Nokia is set to launch its N810 refresh with WiMAX at CTIA in April this year. Interestingly, the name will remain the same, and not be labeled the Nokia N830 as we'd first thought. Yeah, it's only a rumor at this point, but we're thinking that giving this radio-less internet appliance a bit more reach is nothing but a good thing.

Please let this be true.

Well since it's April 1rst it will be released with a sticker for a screen but will be able to play FM in stereo.
James @ Mar 14th 2008 1:30AM
Will it run windows mobile too?
Anthony @ Mar 14th 2008 1:30AM
Who has access to Wimax? Isn't it one of those "coming soon" type of technologies?
Tired_ @ Mar 14th 2008 2:11AM
Canada has Roger's and Bell for Wimax, with lots of coverage. This could be an interesting device indeed, on their portable plans.
CB17 @ Mar 14th 2008 1:31AM
I don't get the point of having wimax in ANYTHING at this point (or ever, honestly). I mean really, where would you be able to use this? 30 square miles of Chicago and Philly? Gimme a break... I really don't get all these companies talkin' about WiMax products anyways, there's only one carrier that even uses it.

because it will destroy the cell phone industry if it can be call that.
who the hell pays $20 for unlimited.
we won't see wimax
AboveUnrefined @ Mar 14th 2008 2:20AM
In the future, you won't need phones.
CB17 @ Mar 14th 2008 2:26AM
@AboveUnrefined
Mind elaborating? Cause I don't see how that relates to what I said or anything in general really. Besides it doesn't even make any sense.
Marc @ Mar 14th 2008 8:38AM
"In the future you won't need phones" is true, in a sense.
With Wimax you can go VOIP and save some $. Right now, in Canada at least, this is a very viable option.
Andrew @ Mar 14th 2008 1:37AM
What do you mean "radio-less?" Does it not have a WiFi radio and a Bluetooth radio?
WiMax barely has any coverage right now, and LTE is going to be coming around soon. They'd be better served giving it HSPA, if anything.
ATT @ Mar 14th 2008 1:39AM
$20 for unlimited "txt messages".
oops
tef_ @ Mar 14th 2008 1:43AM
Can anyone say "April Fools!"?
Rome @ Mar 14th 2008 2:10AM
I was going to bring this up.
danielmilhousechun @ Mar 14th 2008 2:16AM
what i was thinking
JS @ Mar 14th 2008 8:33AM
Since when did Bluetooth and WiFi become non-radio..?!
FRZ @ Mar 14th 2008 8:38AM
I guess I should take this opportunity to ask a stupid question like, "what is WiMax?" Yes, I could google it but, what's the fun in that?
Owen @ Mar 14th 2008 9:07AM
FRZ, WiMAX is THE new standard in teledildonics.
FRZ @ May 20th 2008 11:09AM
Ok, I'll just look it up cause, that just sounds nasty, "tele-dildo-nics".
FRZ @ Mar 14th 2008 2:11PM

Guys, "April 1st".
April Fools?
eseiber @ Mar 14th 2008 10:18AM
We have wimax coming in the next month for everyone in this area. They are testing with a few people now so if everything goes well I will definitely buy this with wimax as I need a good mobile product.
Pdexter @ Mar 14th 2008 11:29AM
Well there's enough of coverage in Europe(what is Nokia's main market after all)to make this sell something and Nokia did say in 2007 that there will be devices in 2008 with wimax.
Wes @ Mar 28th 2008 6:59PM
i live in chicago and so i will benefit from the wimax connection most of the time, but will it also have wifi connectivity if i chose to take it out of wimax range?
