Granted,
Macroswiss' 4WD Spybot is quite capable of handling most everything warfare can toss at it, but as these things always go, great is never good enough. Reportedly, said outfit is now working with the US Army Rapid Equipping Force to develop a 6x6 SpyRobot with the ability to carry four times its own weight and fit snugly within a backpack. The aforesaid critter will be "an important new tool for the detection, recognition and identification of targets from a distance," and of course, it'll be packed to the brim with sensors of all varieties. Per usual, there's no word on when the finalized unit will be ready to hit the sand running, but word on the street has it that numerous versions are currently being toyed with.
woot todays my birthday ! =]
and robots are COOOOOOLLLL!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
If only all this same energy and hard work could be focused on finding ways to bring about peace, compromise and communication.
It is difficult trying to imagine warefare two or three generations from now.
It is impossible trying to imagine how it will be in the next century.
Ironically, some of us reading this post may still be around

"If only all this same energy and hard work could be focused on finding ways to bring about peace, compromise and communication."
Sigh... I wish they stop war... Waiting for the World to Change...

It is so difficult to imagine war... What's worse? There's no more Engadget! Or SpyroForum! Or BenHeck or Tweaktown! :'(
"It is impossible trying to imagine how it will be in the next century."
Well if they don't stop this stupid arms race. history will repeat itself.
"Ironically, some of us reading this post may still be around"
I'm still 16, so I will be around or a looong time.
Christ, it annoys me to see these posts.
Get over it, war is as natural as anything else. Man isnt inately peaceful, he is ambitious and greedy. Unless by 'finding new ways' you mean ways to mutate people into something else, then your just retarded. Get over it, war happens- nothing you can do about it.
A big problem with conflict today has to do with religion. Most of these problems today come from a war that has been going on for thousands of years. There is not one country that brought on Muslim extremists. Regardless of whether the US has gotten into this fight, there would still be this war. Its an idiots dream to think that simply being nice will get their war to stop. You want to stop war? Get rid of the concept of religion and get the world to focus on humanity. Most wars have been started by religious conflict.
All ur base r belong to us
You are on your path to destruction make your time.
Now looking at the Wikipedia article I've noticed I recited it wrongly.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Ha ha ha
Finally, a way for me to keep that old lady's 500 stray cats away from my place!
Get a dog. :-D
Wait, the thing is capable of carrying 6 times its weight but you have to carry it around? (plus another guy the cable) that must be the most frustrating thing ever, why doesn't the damn thing carry you on its back instead of the other way around, geez.
Oh and it's remotely controlled by a thick cable, so I'm sure they already had similar in WW2, no completely state of the art then.
BTW I see the elderly and crippled every day on small electrical vehicles that carry several times its own weight, that drive for miles.
Maybe those vehicles for the elderly should be attached to a cable too, so they don't get lost.
No it's ok, they can add GPS :)

A little bit o' bolt cutters would disable that thing in a heartbeat. See the big wire out the back?
Let's strap those on some sharks!
Now you're thinking.
these things are cool... I saw them on TV.....
it can outfitted with a micro ozzie
thats a good weapon - have it blare Ozzie music out across the airwaves
Go Army Beat Navy
whoahh. hold the fone... what if some iraqi dirtbag gets ahold of this? then theyll have our robot and eventually figure out a counter-attack thingy against it. then what? back to the drawing board....
Robot doesnt need the cables to operate. Only required in environments where wireless capablility is compromised. You think this is cool...you should see the smaller version which is capable of being thrown long distances and then maneuvered remotely.
This robot DOES need the cables to operate for what it's being developed for; not only for communication, but for emergency retrieval, too.
