Do you honestly think the military or police care about looks?
Panasonic was once called by a state trooper I know, because he spilled coffee or something on his CF-29. The response? "Close all the ports (USB, docking ports, power, etc.) and dunk it in the bath tub."
No no no. You misread me. On Dell's ruggedized post people were bitching, Mac fans I'm willing to bet, that look how fugly it is. My comment was that I'm betting that no one bothers with this because it isn't Dell.
PS- Yes I've seen toughbooks do some amazing things. I was onsite no more then two weeks ago where our company is moving 6 floors up. they were currrently building out the floor. I was with a contractor who was walking down the internal flight of stairs in the building and we were going down to the previous floor to check the T1 circuits. He was juggling his drink, his touchbook (no idea the model) and his floorplans. The guy dropped it down a flight of stairs. the thing rolled down it on its end. the thing didn't even have a dent. Panasonic makes some spooky shit in regards to how well they can take a beating.
