Cizmo announces Centrino 2-based CX15 laptop
Germany's Cizmo isn't exactly the most well-known laptop manufacturer 'round these parts, but the company's new 15.4-inch, Centrino 2-based CX15 looks like it could well win it some new fans, with it boasting some pretty impressive specs and some not-too-shabby looks to match. Under that shiny exterior is your choice of a P8400, P8600, or P9400 Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX graphics, DDR3 RAM, an optional Blu-ray drive, an eSATA port, and a 32GB or 64GB SSD drive if standard hard drives aren't your thing. If that sounds like it fits your bill, you can look for this one to hit Europe in the first half of June with a starting price of €1,499, or just over $2,400.

Scrapes mouth off floor.
Strange putting the new Montevina chipset and processors but still using the Geforce 8000 series cards instead of the 9000 ones that have come out??
That's cause the newer 9-series are G80 based die-shrinks and 8800m GTX is G92 based. So a 9500m GS delivers slightly (a few fps more) better performance than a 8600m GT with the same memory type (DDR2/GDDR3). The same goes for the rest of the line.. And seeing a 9800 GTX ain't all that more powerful than a 8800 GT, a 9800m GTX won't really be that much more poweful than a 8800m GTX.
Its all wrong. The next wave is in sub-10" cheap notebooks, using Intel Atom/Via Isaiah running light Linux/XP. Still, I would take that 8800M GTX.
There will always be a market for powerful gaming laptops.
Although i never understaood why people need to carry a gaming machine around...
I for one would love one - I'm off on a business trip tomorrow and will spend the next few days in a hotel by myself miles away from pretty much anywhere.... one of these would be fantastic!
Oh well, I'll just have to empty the mini bar and watch pay per view instead... :D
*understood
hot.
P8400, P8600, etc...
are those new intel processors?
They are the Montevina (centrino 2) Penryn CPU's. The Santa Rosa Penryns right now are called T9xxx and T8xxx. With Montevina, the naming convention changes, to P9xxx/8xxx, SP9xxx, SL9xxx and SU9xxx. They represent standard size/medium-voltage, Small form factor/medium-voltage, Small form factor/low-voltage and Small form factor/ultra-low-voltage respectivly.
Holy smokes, now that's a machine! Too bad it's so costly, but it's almost worth it. Wonder how much heat this bad-boy puts out or if it will burn a hole in your pants if you try to use it on your lap... you know, literally burn a hole (or melt one).
I too agree, it's kind of dumb not to have the 9000-series chipset. Maybe they're hoping to snag a few "repeat offenders" by holding off a few months and getting previous buyers to re-purchase new ones or upgrade? Wonder how it looks in person...
hmm.. would be nice to see them hit below $2000 in NA... but we wont.
Anyone know anything about the company itself? Decent support? I may have my German relatives ship one to me... that thing looks HAWT!
look at the pics on the site. the back is extremely fat and clunky. no wonder the backdrop for the pics is black, i wouldn't want to show that either.
wow nice laptop! i have an apple macbook pro, but this one looks better!
An 8800m GTX on a 15.4"? Sweet. I want one of those.
