T-Mobile's Shadow II revealed in spy pic
Just when we were getting used to T-Mobile's Shadow, it appears we're going to have to make room in our pockets for its successor... the Shadow II. Picking up almost exactly where the first iteration left off, this grainy spy shot reveals that its going to be more of the same for the revamp, save for some new rounded edges and oh-so-chic reflective finish. We'll assume the company is sticking to the plan with a slide out numeric keypad, but you never know; they could be hiding a QWERTY under there... or some kind of weird Gremlin.

So I guess its time to upgrade from my Shadow? Praying for 3G.. tmo needs to drop a hint as to when we'll finally have 3G. Somebody find out if its got WinMo 6.1!!
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Apr 15th 2008 3:07PM
looks like it to me
Nick @ Apr 15th 2008 3:47PM
Not sure if it'll have 3G, but T-Mobile's expected to get their new network rolling out by summer. http://htcsource.com

It looks like the standard shadow customized homescreen so there isn't any way to tell. That said, the biggest upgrade to 6.1 was a new default homescreen that is actually pretty nice- if TMo upgraded and didn't modify their homescreen it would be a waste.

I am sorry, but I must ask...
Is their 'shadow' magenta?
Lao Soup @ Apr 15th 2008 3:12PM
It'd be a slideout SureType keypad, not numeric.
Prokanda @ Apr 15th 2008 8:08PM
I was going to say the same thing..... you'd think a site that scooped the original just a couple months ago MIGHT remember their own articles.
Marty @ Apr 15th 2008 3:24PM
I haven't read anything myself, but a friend who claims they did said it was 3G. Seeing as the Shadow 1 came out last October, I can't see any other reason for their to be a Shadow 2 unless it was for the 3G.
I like my square Shadow better than this new iteration though.
And I think I about give up on T mobile 3G at this point... I need Blackberry now for work, so no reason to get excited about 3G. I should be happy... T mo's procrastination and delays meant one less phone for me to throw money away on...
PRP @ Apr 15th 2008 3:28PM
If it comes with a gremlin, I'm definitely switching over to T-Mobile
palehorse @ Apr 15th 2008 3:39PM
With no Tmo 3G news, it's becoming harder and harder to stay excited about the new iPhone 3G... DAMNIT!
LP @ Apr 15th 2008 3:59PM
I all who wonder if "The MOB" will be getting 3G, its definitely going to happen by 4QR this yr at the latest. Almost every other month there has been a 3G compatible phone; Have faith guys we're gonna get to the promise land.
frank @ Apr 15th 2008 4:45PM
Yeah, and it's pretty sad that any post about a new T-Mo handset immediately turns into a 3G whine fest. I've been a loyal customer since the days of Voicestream but I'm gonna have to go to the dark side if they don't get it together soon.
Alex @ Apr 15th 2008 4:01PM
Oh, Come On!
I just bought a Dash!
Damn it...

How are shiny surfaces still being used in cell phones?
Designer: Well, Mr. Executive sir, glossy surfaces show fingerprints and scratches in a matter of minutes. The previous success of devices with matte finishes...
Mr. Executive: I don't care! Our reasearch indicates that people are drawn to shiny objects.
Designer: But sir, our last focus group was conducted on girls age 12 to 16. I'm not sure that's indicative of the smartphone market---
Mr. Executive: Listen dumbass, I don't pay you to think, okay? I want shiny!
supes @ Apr 16th 2008 12:35AM
sadly, the shininess of this phone is the only thing i can get excited about.

Can anyone else guess what a T-Mobile HTC device implies:
TI OMAP 200MHZ processor
128MB ROM
64MB RAM
MyFaves bloat + My5Services.exe in the background
T-Mobile Hotspot bloat
Laggy device
Shall I continue?
I can complain because I have a T-Mobile Dash and had to change the ROM to use the device without continuously resetting
TMONEWS @ Apr 16th 2008 1:53AM
The processor will be upgraded from the current 200 MHz. HTC didn't want such a slow processor in the Shadow, but T-mobile put big cost restrictions on them which forced them to stick it with the same processor as the Dash. Now for the Shadow II, we can expect an upgrade...our guess is 400 MHZ. I guess we will just have to wait and see :-p
udub @ Apr 15th 2008 7:12PM
looks like the HTC P3470, but better.
Robot Overlord @ Apr 15th 2008 9:44PM
If it is indeed the HTC Pharos, that means it only has edge, which makes me die a little inside considering t-mobile has been holding off on 3g for a long time now. it looks as though t-mobile keeps heading backwards.
blitzkrieg999 @ Apr 15th 2008 10:32PM
I agree it looks like the Phaeros, and I hope its not.
...or if it is, that they intro a higher end GPS smartphone sometime soon
tr3sDosUno @ Apr 16th 2008 1:04AM
I just hope T-Mobile decided to fix the battery life issue that the Shadow 1 currently has , i had to return mine because i didn't feel like carrying a charger every where i went, i remember i would go into into work at 8:30am with 100% battery life and by 5:00pm it was 10% and i didn't use my phone through out the day except for a text or two...........
nyuhsuk @ Apr 16th 2008 9:28AM
My Shadow was dying in less than half a day when I had first purchased it. It's common knowledge that BT and WiFi drain the battery quickly, but the bigger thing that drained my phone was the constant updating of email accounts. I had the thing set to update my email accounts at least every 15 minutes. Now I have it set to once every 1 or 2 hours I think... much more battery life. Even leaving on BT from 8-5 leaves it with more than 1/2 the battery when I get back into my car to go home...
Just my observations...
LP @ Apr 16th 2008 4:49PM
Or it could be the HTC Polaris 100
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1033
at least that one has 400 MHz cpu and a 3mp camera
LP @ Apr 16th 2008 4:52PM
