It's like this: if you found yourself all giddy playing with the
Eee PC 701, you'll be absolutely enthralled when handling the 900. At least, that's the verdict being blasted out from reviewers web-wide. More specifically,
CNET found the 9-inch subnote to be superior in quite a few ways to the 701, and felt particularly impressed with the ability to run multiple applications more easily due to more screen real estate and the included 1GB of RAM. However, they were none too thrilled with the keyboard (still), and echoed
Trusted Reviews gripes of lackluster battery life. Yeah, that last dig could be fairly substantial if you're looking to stay untethered completely for hours on end, but if you're confident you can locate an AC outlet when necessary (and can't afford to wait for an
Atom-based version of the machine), it seems the 9-inch Eee is well worth a look.

How does the processor perform under Linux? I plan on installing Ubuntu and using Compiz Fusion, and I know it is easily feasible, but I want to know how well it performs.
I am an inexperienced computer buyer and really want to make the right decision. I just purchased a dell laptop, model 11525 on sale for $499 and am reconsidering ...I have 2 days left to return. While I like the new computer, I would prefer a lighter weight model, and this asus eee 900 sounds pretty good! I work in real estate, so will have contracts to store, want to store photos, make flyers, use for tax organizing...and of course emailing and research. Do you think the dell is best with a little more weight to carry around, or is the new asus a hand's down winner? I am petite and want to carry the computer to my office almost daily.
Thanks for all opinions!! Have 1 - 2 days to make my clear choice. :)
i was thinking of buying one for work but also wanted to know if it (the 8.9inch scrn model) would handle playing dvd's etc when connected to my 20inch lcd at home, and if so is it via dvi or vga out? - i realise it has no optical drive but my server at home stores all my digital media anyway, so it would just be streamed.
thanks,
D.
Why do people have so much faith in Dell? I haven't gotten an EEE yet but i've been dissapointed in Dell laptops but i LOVE MY M6BNE!
can't wait for other companies to release their Eee-clones
