I have the 7in beast and yes the battery won't last longer than two hours, no matter what you do, but you can use it holding it up in one hand. Having suffered the windows lag for so long its so refreshing to use a machine that doesn't have to think about it and just does it. In fact often I'll plug it into my home monitor and plug in a mouse and keyboard and sit back and use it like my own desktop.
If you don't like it fine, it's not for everyone but there are plenty out there who just love it. I've never looked back and I've all ready pre-ordered the PC 900 as love the upgraded storage, screen size etc.
Love it or Hate it. It'll be here for years to come.
How does the processor perform under Linux? I plan on installing Ubuntu and using Compiz Fusion, and I know it is easily feasible, but I want to know how well it performs.
I am an inexperienced computer buyer and really want to make the right decision. I just purchased a dell laptop, model 11525 on sale for $499 and am reconsidering ...I have 2 days left to return. While I like the new computer, I would prefer a lighter weight model, and this asus eee 900 sounds pretty good! I work in real estate, so will have contracts to store, want to store photos, make flyers, use for tax organizing...and of course emailing and research. Do you think the dell is best with a little more weight to carry around, or is the new asus a hand's down winner? I am petite and want to carry the computer to my office almost daily. Thanks for all opinions!! Have 1 - 2 days to make my clear choice. :)
i was thinking of buying one for work but also wanted to know if it (the 8.9inch scrn model) would handle playing dvd's etc when connected to my 20inch lcd at home, and if so is it via dvi or vga out? - i realise it has no optical drive but my server at home stores all my digital media anyway, so it would just be streamed.
