@ChuChu: Ultraportable has nothing to do with it. There are sub-3-lb notebooks out there with very nice 5400 or 7200 RPM drives, so why not this one? Could it be that the rather tepid 2-hr standard battery would only last 90 minutes if they stuck a halfway decent drive in there?

Craig you say ultraportable has nothing to do with it then go on to describe why ultraportable has EVERYTHING to do with it.
Performance is sacrificed in favour of weight. Batteries are very heavy.
