Need more unsubstantiated evidence that the
3G iPhone is near. Good, the Chinese language
Commercial Times is quoting sources claiming that Foxconn (aka, Hon Hai) -- the
maker of the 1st gen iPhone -- is ramping up 3G iPhone assembly by "the end of May" to ship 3 million units in June. It's expected to produce some 24-25 million units before the product reaches end of life. If those numbers are true then Apple had better be prepared for a proper global launch
without those pesky revenue sharing schemes seen holding back world-wide uptake.
"BTW, I will be upgrading my iPhone when the new one comes out. I think it's worth it."
There is no rational justification why the iPhone both costs more than any other phone and locks you into an expensive and long tariff. It certainly isn't "worth it" in any sense.
Virtually every other phone offered by Vodafone, O2 or other providers is free on lower tariffs than the iPhone. That includes various Blackberry, Palm like devices. We're talking savings of thousands.
"We're talking savings of thousands."
Thousands? Please show me how you came to this "rational justification".
Why does a BMW cost more than other cars. They all have tires. They all come in different colors. They all have a steering wheel. Where's the "rational justification" in purchasing a BMW (or any other car), Instead of the $1000 POS Special of the week.
Will you please stop trying to unjustify some ones justified purchase. If you want to get the "FREE" phone, get it. I'll respect your decision to save money, but I'll also point and laugh at you when your phone malfunctions. And, it's a nightmare to replace.
The best part is, even if Steve Jobs handed you a FREE limited edition iPhone, you would still complain when you didn't have 3G access.
"We're talking savings of thousands"
Bullshit.
the iphone is a good phone. it has a beautiful and easy to use interface, and that is why i like it best. i've had it for a year, and i have had no problem with the battery life at all, and that includes sitting in class all day on the internet.
i bet if half of the 'windows mobile pwns all newbs' people spent a week with the device, they would see why its so popular, and not just because its an apple product. i am not an apple fanboy either, i have never owned another apple product in my life, not even an ipod, and yes, i have owned, and used several other phones. just because you're tired of hearing about it doesn't make it a bad phone, and yes, i know why you say you consider it a "bad phone"
there are now commercially viable 3g chipsets available that will give the awesome battery life demanded on apples products. I'm pretty sure engadget covered this some time back.
If people are complaining about paying for the iPhone again then get a job. Apple must purposely set a high price so its customer base is an eliteist niche. We don't everybody having one because I'd doesn't have the same BOOM impact when you whip it out unfront of colleagues or your friends. I forget the amount of times ive been the topic of conversation due to the iPhone.
Anyways the one feature I hope apple add is geo-tagging when you take photos using the built in gps. And to have sat-nav working with google maps. This will be awesome!! Although I'm interested to see of it will work in the background or not??
It is Time to buy stocks in Taiwan!!
I find it funny now Apple has 3G, one problem here in Australia we have been using 3.5G (Next G) for about two years thus it's dated technology.. When Apple first talked to Telstra (biggest telco in Australia by a mile) they tried to force Telstra to sign all these lock-in contracts and basically they (Telstra) said get stuffed, oh and your phone wont work on our new 3.5G network so get stuffed twice.
I like Coke! I like Pepsi! I like Coke! I like Pepsi! I like Coke! I like Pepsi!
"What's wrong with fascism grandpa? It's all we know..."
