The fact that Apple has been updating their iPods on a strict annual cycle for most of the past half decade, perhaps? Or the confirmation from AT&T's CEO?

I think it'll happen. Not because the fanboys want it to, but because it follows Apple's modus operandi. June 2007 - iPhone. June 2008 - moar bettar iPhone.
