Guitar Hero: On Tour to land in Nintendo DS bundle this June
There's not a lot of details on this one just yet, but Activision CEO Mike Griffith has dropped word in an earnings conference call that the company's upcoming Guitar Hero: On Tour game / controller combo will not only be released on its own this June, but in a new Nintendo DS bundle as well. No word on a price, unfortunately, nor is there any indication that the DS itself will be undergoing any Guitar Hero-inspired changes, but it seems like those little details should be making themselves known soon enough.

How exactly do you hold it?
Podaman @ May 9th 2008 4:46PM
That's what she said.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 4:47PM
Left hand goes around the back and your four fingers go on the buttons.
Your right hand holds the stylus and does the strumming
Marc @ May 9th 2008 5:03PM
that's what she said
y3k.nik @ May 9th 2008 6:11PM
@Marc
Have a little respect for the she said jokes please. There should be a time and place to throw them around!
allenvanhellen @ May 9th 2008 7:15PM
There are (at least) two other options:
1) Right hand goes on back, fingers on buttons; left hand strums; hold behind your neck.
2) Left hand goes on buttons around the DS's back; strum with your teeth... or tounge?
Brian @ May 9th 2008 4:37PM
Disaster waiting to happen...
allenvanhellen @ May 9th 2008 7:10PM
... that's what she said.
slarity @ May 9th 2008 4:37PM

Ryan Trevisol @ May 9th 2008 4:42PM
Maybe I'm a retard (DONT ANSWER THAT), but I dont' get how you're supposed to hold that.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 4:45PM
Left hand goes around the back and your four fingers go on the buttons.
Your right hand holds the stylus and does the strumming
And yes. You're a retard.
itlnstln @ May 9th 2008 4:53PM
You were so close, too. Missed it by just seven posts. Thanks Phoenix for taking time out of your busy day for working with special needs children.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 4:43PM
How do you whammy...
Low Ranked @ May 9th 2008 4:49PM

Rerun @ May 9th 2008 4:45PM
I think you can hold it in your left had and the spot where the two screens come together is right in your palm.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 4:48PM
No, your palm is on the back of the "right hand" screen, the other screen is sorta going up your arm
Low Ranked @ May 9th 2008 4:53PM
I think he was describing it for how someone with a normal sized hand would open it.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 6:01PM
meh. depends how old you are and how thick the guitar grip is, how much of your finger is on the button.
But yeah, he's actually closer *is embarrassed*
Ksiem @ May 9th 2008 4:47PM
So, looks like its only for right handed people LOL
Firen @ May 9th 2008 5:00PM
i thought it's more for left handed people, since I thought u put your hands around it so u can put your fingers on the buttons...
like u hold a guitar :3
ayan4m1 @ May 9th 2008 5:34PM
Something tells me they'll have an option to swap screens for people of both handednesses.
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 5:59PM
@ Firen
Well no, because your dominant (haha) hand is used to strum on the touch screen, much like the strum bar on Guitar controllers.
Schottie @ Jun 18th 2008 2:00PM
If you want to use it left handed you would flip the entire DS around so that the touch screen is on the left and then your right hand would use the frets and your left hand would strum the strings... hope this clears up the confusion... oh yeah... there's most likely a place where you can change the way the notes will come down the screen for left handed players. It will either ask you in the beginning or there will be a place in options to change that.
Matthew @ May 9th 2008 4:49PM
and suddenly our sleek DS lites look like NOMADs with game genie, sonic and knuckles, with sonic 3, sticking out of them..
Phoenix @ May 9th 2008 4:52PM
Hmm. what I wanna know is is it compatible with the original DS....
Juaquin @ May 9th 2008 6:53PM
Seriously, there's no award for most posts in a day. Quality > Quantity
Jarhead2012 @ May 11th 2008 9:40PM
I'm wondering the same thing.
jennie @ Jun 18th 2008 2:01PM
Yeah it's compatible with both DS and DS lite
Petra @ May 9th 2008 5:31PM
I'm waiting for the DS Rockband edition - with wireless drummer and bass player...
controllers will of course be incompatible...
eaglei20200 @ May 9th 2008 5:43PM
Accordion Hero! I can learn "Lady of Spain" and some swell lively polkas!
Mr. S. @ May 9th 2008 5:50PM
I'M READY TO ROCK in the bathroom LIKE NO BODY HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Davin Black @ May 9th 2008 6:15PM
This is full of failure and AIDS. Why would I want to play Guitar Hero on the go? It's more fun on a large screen and with the instrument peripherals; this would be like listening to the rock playlist of my mp3 player...but now I've gotta work for it.
Tonicboy @ May 10th 2008 12:06AM
Why would you ever want any game on the go? Your argument implies that there is no place for portable gaming because any game looks better and is more fun on the big screen. You want it on the go because... sometimes, you're on the go, duh. And Guitar Hero full is also like listening to the rock playlist on your mp3, except you have to work for it. However, there are a small minority of us who call that work part "having fun".
lanejasper69 @ May 9th 2008 6:19PM
Looks hard to play, and a drop accident waiting to happen...?
Faslane
The "top" screen or lid would kinda be in the way no?
Matthew @ May 9th 2008 6:35PM
apparently theres a strap that goes around your hand holding the system, kinda like that old nerf velcro-ball game where you held the velcro paddle and threw the fuzzy tennis-like ball to one another
jp @ May 9th 2008 10:05PM
ONE WORD.......
SICK
9bit @ May 10th 2008 12:39AM
Looks more suited to Accordian Hero.
ceejbay @ May 10th 2008 8:45AM
@ Phoenix: they've confirmed DS "phat"compatibility for on tour
Nigel Rowley @ May 10th 2008 12:47PM
naaah! I don't get it. Thumbs down on this one.
Nigel Rowley
Shadowfox952 @ May 10th 2008 9:15PM
The lack of a 5th fret is some fail. Half the fun is getting pissed at hitting the wrong key because you can't move your pinky fast enough!
Ron Morgan @ May 11th 2008 1:32PM
How is it that this game runs like CRAP on my $4000 gaming system but works on this TOY? What a joke, I have to crank the res down to 800 x 600 with everything off, and still sucks.....
