Zune breaks 2 million sold, stealing market from Creative not Apple
Microsoft is still toiling away at the Zune, but there isn't a whole terrible much to show for it so far in regards to market impact. They just broke the 2 million mark, almost a year after they hit 1 million in May 2007. That means growth has hardly accelerated since the second-gen players hit the scene. Zune's overall market share has grown from three to four percent, but that's most likely a steal from Creative (which sunk from four to two percent) than a steal from Apple or second-place SanDisk (with a billionty and 11 percent, respectively). But don't worry, we're sure that 2.5 update is going to change everything.

3 things that got me to get a zune over the ipod.
1. fm radio
2. wifi music sync and sharing
3. All the updates that the new zunes get the old 30 gig zunes get also.
Also the sound is great and the fact that the zune software does the conversion for windows media center recorded contact is a huge feature meaning that all i have to do is drag something that i recorded from media center onto my zune and it gets put onto the device is huge.
I flaunt my zune whenever I have it with me. Most people who see it are really interested in finding out about it. After I told him about the cool features of the Zune, one of my coworkers told me that he felt completely ripped off with the iPod that his wife had given him for Christmas.
Especially the 80gb, show it off. It's a beautiful piece of equipment. Especially the Zune Gen 2 Premium earphones, they are to die for. I was so jealous when my wife got one free with her new zune, but now I have one too :)
The Zune has been a marketing fiasco for Microsoft. The Zune is not a disruptive product on the market. The product itself is hardly revolutionary or cool. Microsoft marketed this as an "ipod killer" to hype the market up over technology that was many years too late.
The media was too interested in the iphone release and the pending Vista release to really care about this device, regardless of brown colour breakthoughs!
Large retail outlets are now reserving the space where Zunes once lived to sell much more capable and more desireable Mp3 players.
Microsoft should look more at its core business and build better OS's and stop getting side tracked sinking Google and making brown ipods for the cordory wearing-open toe sandal consumers.
If you purchased a Zune- dont unwrap it. They will be worth money to collectors in a few years.
