Nintendo DS to come in lime green, red, and cool ice this summer?
What's that? Could it be? A Nintendo DS Lite in delicious lime green? Yes, kids, according to pre-order pages that popped up at a Spanish gaming retail site, Nintendo's ubiquitous portable gaming console of virtually every color will come in lime green, hot red, and ice blue starting some time around June 13. No other information is available just yet but we assume that the insides will be the same and the new colors will kick-start Ninty's summer sales massacre, at least in Europe. Bonus points for coming up with better color names than we did. Margarita? Cinnamon? C'mon.

Where are my multi-colored Wii consoles? I can't believe I originally planned to hold off for a black one.
First
Raheem @ May 20th 2008 9:16AM
Ugh, why did you need say, "First"? Are you seriously that much lacking in self-esteem that you need to establish yourself as some kind of winner of this article? Yes yes, well done, you won. You've won a Black Wii... oh wait.
Homeboy @ May 20th 2008 10:00AM
With the white Wii selling like cocaine, Nintendo doesn't have to do squat. Introducing new clolors is generally a way for manufacturers to ignite interest into a product with soaring sales*eyes rolling towards the PS3*. Until the Wii is dusting on shelves in stores, Nintendo wont' have to introduce new colours.
Pochi @ May 20th 2008 9:45AM
Your comment was actually looking kind of good until I reached the "incredibly pathetic" portion of it at the end there.
I wonder what the age demographic for "first" commenters is... pre-teen mostly, you think?
Fayatheos @ May 20th 2008 10:30AM
Our world is largely based on vision, so it is only, ahem, "natural" to hold off for stuff like this to further flatter our sense of aesthetics...
Oh, and congrats on the first post! I always wanted to get one myself. Not for the assuredly tremendous achievement in itself, but rather the much more enjoyable (and utterly inevitable) anti-first post comments.
Dustin Leiblein @ May 20th 2008 9:17AM
Umm, where the hell is the new DS redesign that was rumored for E3?!
The Return of Moorio @ May 20th 2008 1:13PM
Last time I checked, E3 hasn't come yet.
Rob @ May 20th 2008 9:18AM
I don't understand this color. It looks like phlegm. Why would you want to hold something this color in your hands. Didn't the PSP come out in this color too?
Pochi @ May 20th 2008 9:47AM
Well, come on. Any color *can* look like something gross, since gross things come in all the colors of the rainbow. I mean, white...? Use your imagination.
Vic the One @ May 20th 2008 9:18AM

what happened to that nintendo microphone? did they ever release that? cuz they keep that port there, but i still haven't seen anything for it yet.
Kweenie @ May 20th 2008 11:20PM
The port on the front there is for headphones. Either your usual headphones with the mini jack or the Nintendo headphones, which have been out since the SP. The little "mic" thing on the inside is, um...an actual microphone.
I believe that a Nintendo headset with built-in mic for DS has already been released, though I don't see why anyone would need it.
Larry @ May 20th 2008 9:25AM
Lets see:
Puke Green
Snot Green
But, I like "Slime Green"
JRM @ May 20th 2008 9:37AM
Kermit Green?
Isindil @ May 20th 2008 9:41AM
I...
I...
I think it looks good. To the point where it's my preferred DS Lite color as of now.
crescentdavid @ May 20th 2008 9:45AM
Vibrant. More proof that color exists.
Phil Ringsmuth @ May 20th 2008 9:50AM
So when can we stop saying "Ninty"?
Digitalsabre @ Jun 8th 2008 7:34AM
Good show. I was about to point out that it almost looks like Nintendo's contracting to ColorWare for the coloration of their systems. Now if only Nintendo would sell ColorWare Gift Cards or something. Buy gift card, receive code, get a special custom-colored DS that's still backed by Nintendo's Warranty.
Digitalsabre @ Jun 8th 2008 7:51AM
Whoops, misfired that one. Should go with d's comment.
d @ May 20th 2008 10:02AM
I've already got one.
Colorware anyone?
Liam @ May 20th 2008 10:18AM
Any chance of a price drop instead?
Ian @ May 20th 2008 10:19AM
If only Nintendo would bother to upgrade these from WEP to WPA or WPA2.
tekdroid @ May 21st 2008 9:26AM
Agreed.
I've heard there are hardware limitations with WPA on DS (CPU-intensive).
With Sony breathing down Nintendo's neck... and outselling the DS in Japan by a comfortable stretch (but not worldwide), I'm sure their next portable will have it (but again, that could be a long wait...sigh).
Chou @ May 20th 2008 10:25AM
how about Margarita, Ferrari, and Listerine? I'd love to have a red one
CosterMonger @ May 20th 2008 10:52AM
I want a retro NES theme like they did for the GBA-SP
{right before they made brighter screens, otherwise I'd own one}

Sung @ May 20th 2008 11:28AM
I don't care what color, but they need to make a matte version. No more shiny DS's. A gun-metal grey matte would sell like wildfire.
jruschme @ May 20th 2008 12:37PM
The red one has been rumoured for a while, appearing originally as a special edition for the Japan Post.
It seems as though the rest of the world may finally get the colors that have only been available in Japan.
gabe @ May 20th 2008 1:11PM
has anyone found a work around for the new DS's that won't let u play online with the M3 real?
Deed @ May 20th 2008 1:21PM
Lime Green? Fuck off Nintendo, I would've called it Chartreuse.
Much better and more sophisticated, wouldn't you agree?
Also it's funny that these were the colours that the Wii should have had from the start White, black, green, red, blue and metallic. Well, when I say "should have," I mean that they had some people wanting to get different colours, yet ultimately there was only white. Oh welll.

Jesus, why that green?
Where's the Luigi Green DS?
maryland157 @ May 20th 2008 8:27PM
Want....
iruka @ May 20th 2008 9:50PM
Even if I prefer blue (and I already have the ice blue), that lime green looks tempting...
Kweenie @ May 20th 2008 11:20PM
Of course they release that ice blue somewhere other than Japan a couple of months after I import mine. Of course.
Though, if those stay Europe-exclusive, I'm still good in North America!
Wirbowsky @ May 21st 2008 4:04AM
Kryptonite green
