"gaming rigs with neon lights are the equivalents of souped up rides that xzibit would be proud of, whereas macs are the equivalents of hybrids cars. small visual footprint, super quiet, and simple design.
Having a computer that stands out, fans blazing, lights glowing, doesn't make you more of a nerd. It just means you have no taste, and if anything you're trying to prove how 'serious' you are."
Hilarious! Many people buy Apple products purely because they are a status symbol in the first place! If you really don't care about looks, buy an Apple product and cover it in a cardboard box. Oh wait, it wouldn't be cool then.
ahh~~~ the joys of computing with no screen....
I have that keyboard for my HTPC. It's the worst keyboard I've ever used. If you're thinking about buying it, don't. Get something else. Anything.
Not a Mac guy either, but this is freakin' cool. The cube was a tad ahead of it's time, and now the technology has finally caught up.
Thats a really good idea.. and I love how they fit pretty much exactly in the case.. thats Apple for ya..
fitted?
Whoa thats pretty nice. Wouldn't mind having a small computer like that myself!
It looks nice, but when it comes down to it.. a stock G4 Cube looks better.
The G4 Cube was just an absolutely gorgeous piece.
@Zach
Totally agree.
What I've never understood is why so many people have to like either one or the other then hate the one they don't like??
I guess that's caused by the 13 year old mentality the average fan boy has. Is it really that difficult to grasp that Macs are good for some applications but suck for others, and PCs [sic : a mac was a personal computer last time I looked, if you want to cry like a 3 year old about how windows sucks then call it windows] are good for some applications but suck for others. All major OSs can have virtualisation anyway, so the OS you use the most is, almost, irrelevant to the hardware you're running it on.
True I.T. gurus can use Mac, Windows and Linux. If you are incapable and can only use one of them, then you're not very good at IT.
OS X is better than vista, get over it.
I was wondering when someone was going to put a Mac mini inside a g4 cube. its like almost designed specifically so that someone could do that.
As for the design factor of macs, they are desinged to be as distinctly european as possible. (hence why the mac pro looks like a industrial cheese grater)
i would suggest that he do something like this with the innards from the Cube:

'tis a pointless mod - i think a cool mod would be a mac mini shoved up the ass of a leopard - running leopard of course - same goes for tiger but bigger - jus need a long extension cord for the power.
the mini is cool as is - unless you try to upgrade it - that's when you find out it doesnt really fit in its case - mine has duct tape keeping ribbon cable in place since i was foolish enuff to attempt a memory upgrade
This is a kb from ione, I believe they are a taiwanese manufacturer, looks like a good buy at this price
