Vigor Gaming latches onto AMD's GAME! brand for new Force Recon SP desktop
It wouldn't be a decent pointless chip marketing program if you didn't get minor computer builders supporting the "spec" in an effort to make a name for themselves. AMD GAME! just got its first product announcement from Vigor Gaming, and it's quite the yawner. Vigor is sticking the required AMD components into its Force Recon SP desktops, with a "mainstream" version running an Athlon X2 5600+ processor, ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics and 2GB of RAM for around $1,845, while an AMD Game! Ultra configuration bumps up to a Phenom X4 9650 chip and Radeon HD 3870 graphics for $2,733. Both systems are naturally based on AMD's 770 chipset and run Vista. Vigor offers free overclocking for the brave and custom painting for the aesthetically challenged.

Why do gaming machines have to be so vulgar and garish?
It looks absolutely hideous both inside and out!
If I were in the market for one I'd want an aesthetically pleasing, well designed with tidy interior and very importantly whisper quiet machine but the only thing I can think of would be to get a Mac Pro, upgrade the graphics and boot Windows on it.
There has to be some alternatives that don't look like they were designed to appeal to pre-pubescent boys!
Speak for yourself. That thing looks pretty kick ass to me, and I've actually been tempted to buy that exact case for a while now (no, Vigor doesn't make it).
Not all gaming cases look like that- take a peek at the Cosmos from Cooler Master. Really need to stop being such a bummer.
I despise neon lighting in PC cases myself. Thankfully, I don't have to buy em :P
based on your comment w00t, I take it you are a girl.
dudes love stuff like that.
wooow rip off! i guess the whole program is targeted at people who have no clue about computers.
that price is steep for AMD Game!
I am expecting to be
COOL !
I'd have had red lights and released it with CRYSIS already installed.
Ouch. that's a ~$200 cpu, a ~$160 video card, ~$100 of RAM, and a ~$250 motherboard. Where, exactly does the $2733 price tag come from?
I think they throw in a lot of hard drives.. still pretty crap value
@carl
So you're saying this machine should be sold at cost? Gaming rigs are always premium priced.
Adding a markup is one thing, but when that markup is 300% to 400% or more it is a little too much.
Joker! This CPU costs about 1k usd! video card - 350, 2 Gb GDDR ram (I think it's CORSAIR's product) - 300, motherboard about 300 (due to configuration). Ok, now let's calculate $1k+$350+$300+$300+$200 (for hdd, dvd+rw etc...) and of course + percents for company's mount = something like 2733
comes with vista home basic and ddr2 ram. No way, jose.
Awful and ugly. Very poor effort just to slap the AMD GAME! tag on it, which practically means nothing even to the average user anyway...
Don't think that images is a representation of an amd computer. Theres two nvidia cards placed in sli on the picture ... not ati cards ...
Anyway those specs are for the mid range if you ask me and terribly overpriced.
They need to price is pretty much doubled to give the illusion of performance, because in reality AMD processors and ATI graphics cards are way behind Intel and NVIDIA at the moment.
Case: 125$
PSU: 125$
Phenom 9850 CPU: 250$
mobo: 150$
ram (ddr3): 200$
hdd: 100$
dvd: 25$
gpu: 250$
1225$ total
this thing costs $2733
Coming in at under 1/3 of Vigor's price (garish case included!)...
