HP exec cuts birthday cake with MacBook Air
Those that know Rahul Sood, founder of Voodoo PC and CTO of HP's global gaming business, might not be so surprised to hear he used a working MacBook Air to cut his thick, rich, chocolatey birthday cake. While wearing an HP shirt. And then posted it to his site. Good luck, Rahul -- we're totally sure the Apple fanboys of the world are going to give you a pass on this one.

Did anyone else notice that the cake is very similar to the promised cake of Portal?
So the cake isn't a lie.

Nobody else noticed that the "HP Executive Breakroom" is decorated like my college apartment? I was looking for the bong in the photo.
Jarhead2012 @ Jun 1st 2008 6:58PM
If you click the pic, it goes to the blog entry, where it specifically states
"that is not an hp shirt"

the most expensive knife ever!

Why waste an airbook on cake when you can use it to fry eggs? http://macbookair.parnassusgroup.com/2008/05/moshis-zefyr-macbook-cooler-is-way-hot/
Trey @ Jun 1st 2008 7:26PM
He's just trying to feed it some cake, so that it can gain some weight. Poor skinny thing :(

I guess his warranty is pretty much out the window, huh? Try explaining the delicious chocolate frosting as "every day wear and tear". But what can you expect from a pc weenie? The joke's on him: his computers have no soul. :D

From the read link:
"I thought I'd explain myself: It was a combination of some fantastic wine, constant ribbing from my friends, and a hand rolled cigar that did this. "
Really? Hand rolled cigars cause lapses in judgement? Sounds like you're a stoner to me. A ridiculously rich stoner who works for a large corporation and probably wouldn't want anyone to know that you're a stoner.
I mean, I personally don't care if this guy smokes, but really... if he does, he's being pretty stupid for having made that cigar statement.
ma5t3rw1tt @ Jun 1st 2008 8:22PM
Your going to use an expensive laptop to cut a chocolate cake. Thats freaking insane shit. Well at least its not my laptop :p
hotwings1 @ Jun 1st 2008 8:40PM
@ all of you guys who just said that Macs are for rich kids: I go to a public high school, am from a normal middle class family, and use a Mac. So don't talk if you don't know.
JAx2000 @ Jun 1st 2008 8:42PM
Um, thin as a knife is now a bad thing? Glad I bought an Air for my wife and not an HP monstrosity.
olpmcg @ Jun 1st 2008 8:53PM
That cake is very similar to the cake from portal.

So...no one has noticed nor used the Air purely for its sharp edge? I was using mine to cut a mango earlier tonight; it was messy.
In a pinch, when something needs cutting, I use my Mac Air.
Jerry Brace @ Jun 1st 2008 9:28PM
Cuts like butter...
snchpnz @ Jun 1st 2008 9:51PM
Big deal! I dont see why it wouldnt work after a good cleaning. That laptop doesnt seem to have many places for the cake to get into anyways. I bet someone picked it up and is using it right now.
Jeffsters @ Jun 1st 2008 10:11PM
This is soooo cool! Remember the days of "Apple doesn't matter", "Apple is irrelevant", "Apple is dead". LOL! Now even the VP at HP has to use his birthday to somehow knock highflying Apple. I think this is sooo cool and shows just how scared HP and others are.

he may think that's a dis to apple, but all Rahul Sood (however you say his name) is doing is showing how thin the mac book air really is.
joe @ Jun 1st 2008 10:33PM
Could it be just a display model?

THE CAKE IS A LIE!
Kaiser-Machead @ Jun 1st 2008 11:21PM
If not for the optical being missing, I'd actually consider one. Requiring a tethered SuperDrive is not my cup o' tea, but the casing build quality on this thing is superior to all of the other Macbooks in the line.
-tikabanget- @ Jun 1st 2008 11:31PM
wupz...
hahhaha..
but, helloww.. that's an expensive thing u used to cut ur cake..
fiuh..
amdman18 @ Jun 1st 2008 11:43PM
Has anyone else noticed how he hinted at what seems to be a voodoo ultra portable? "Ahh well, I wouldn't be needing this notebook for long anyways... :) Stay tuned for more..."
Steve @ Jun 1st 2008 11:52PM
I highly doubt apple cares that their computer was ruined. They are still making money. :-D
compiz @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:05AM
I like the design. a rectangle which allows both hands to be engaged in slicing for which two hands participate in the cutting. The pressure of the slicer on the cake can be controlled this way. It just needs to cost $1750+ less.
That's a sweet looking cake, by the way. Anybody have chocolate strawberry before?
Jeremy @ Jun 2nd 2008 2:30AM
He can cut his cake with the air all day but it doesn't make up for how much cock HP's products suck every day, all week, all month, every year.
MJ @ Jun 2nd 2008 2:42AM
All we need now is Jack La Lanne demonstrationg its juicing properties and we're all set!
az_runner @ Jun 2nd 2008 3:18AM
You know as senseless and stupid a stunt this is.....I personally think this stunt backfires on HP. What this stunt is telling me is that Apple makes such thin products that it can actually cut a cake. However, HP's stuff couldn't.
This could easily be one of those Mac and PC advertisements. A happy birthday thing where PC forgets to bring a knife and Mac says, "I got it", and cuts the cake.
Jimbo @ Jun 2nd 2008 5:02AM

paullyjay @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:53AM
What a cheese ball! I bet he can't do that with any of his HP's! If anything he is promoting the MacBook Air, just showing the rest of the world how thin it really is, if the HP gaming CTO has one too, what does that say about HP's laptop line... "HP's Laptops obviously can't cut it!!"
Jimbo @ Jun 2nd 2008 5:01AM
why the hell would someone pay £1999 for a laptop to use as a flippin knife. ...even if it was a publicity stunt!!

Bucko there HAD to use a MacBook Air to do it cuz none of the HPs can.
It's like they both makes knives, but only Apples can cut cakes while HP's squishes them.
Good job.
Proof that you can still have your cake and eat it too!
MacBook Air sees cake; thinks *om nom nom nom nom*

Ohh is that the new line of kitchen knifes from Apple I gotta get one.........
Seems like their trying to saturate every market

Anyone else notice that there is only one other person at this "party"? Two guys in there apartment drinking wine in front of a dog bed? Sounds gay to me. And nothing about this guy makes me think HP exec. his shirt is brand new and printed upside down. His apartment is like 100 square feet. He must have saved until now to be able to buy one of these. This is his 15 minutes of fame because when it is over he will still be a dick sucker.
Seb @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:07PM
The cake is a lie!!!!!!!

Macbook Air... it might cut the cake but it doesn't cut the mustard.
