Intel gets early hands-on with Intel-based ASUS M70VM
Looks like Intel and ASUS are gearing up to demo some Centrino 2 (Montevina) gear at Computex, as Intel's Senior Technical Marketing Engineer for Corporate Demonstrations blogged on Intel's site about running around using the yet-unreleased M51VA with WiMAX in Taipei. Sounds like he sure is enjoying the hardware his company produced, even despite the recent delays which are keeping it out of the hands of non-Intel folk like you and us.

Very cool looking. I still think that gaming notebooks are overrated because of the crazy amount of hardware in them that makes the battery life suck. Nonetheless I would still go buy one just because its better than desktops.
Ahh, DoTa.... Good ol' DoTa. The game that started it all. Funny thing is that Dota came out in like 2002, and it is STILL heavily played. I remember playing back in 2002 and just loving the shit out that game. I played me some Dota just 2 days ago. Damn, I've honestly played over like +5000 plus games on that damn thing.
Anywho they need to do is come out with WC4 (if ever) and hook that shit up with some Dota. It's time to revitalize the darn franchise! LONG LIVE THE SENT!!!!
I HEAR YOU MAN
For JUSTICE !
Why rush HoT..? He hasn't even got boots..
I'll shake that right up!
haha. damn, blizzard made a great game. They put in thousands of those models and phrases and spells that can be combined to make user created maps like DOTA, a game i would pay $50 bucks for alone...5-6 years after it came out.
Whole WiMAX situation sounds pretty impressive
walcome to the future!
Yes, walcome.
We have cake
but the cake is a lie
Pie is better anyway.

@ clak
My good god.
Talk about fanboyish.
Your not running games on a Mac, a Mac is Intel hardware running OSX, your running games on a normal windows based PC in a fancy case.
If I take your definition, I can take my pc apart, stick it inside a cake, lets say, and say I was gaming on a dam cake!
I don't remember the specs on a iMac, but the graphics cards are general pathetic!
If you want a Mac, get a dam mac, but don't go claiming you can game on it, because quite simply they are underpowered and overpriced for that purpose (I build my gaming rig for quite possibly less than your iMac cost).
I don't personal like OSX, it isn't to my taste, and it cant do half of what I want it to do, but I can see why people like it, but, apple would have to change something VERY major to get to where Windows is today.
@Angus Hedger
What the hell is wrong with you Windows people? I thought you guys were so much smarter than the average Mac user. You can't even hit the right reply button.
And just for a little background, I used to be a Windows user. I've built about 8 computers in my time, had every version of Windows since version 3.1, except for Windows ME. Hell, I even had Windows 2000.
Okay, so I know all about video cards and what PCs can do. How in the hell is my Mac Pro underpowered? I have a 3.2 Quad-Core Intel Xeon, four gigabytes of RAM, and a Nvidia Geforece 88000 GT 512MB. The closest thing in the PC world would have cost me 1000 more, for exactly the same specs. I looked at a HP Blackbird and a Dell XPS before I bought my Mac.
This was months ago, but at the time, they were more expensive. And don't give the crap about building my own. I've burnt out enough motherboards in my time because electrostatic damage, even though I used an anti-static wrist strap and mat to ground me out. The whole build your own scene is just dead to me and frankly, I'm don't have time for that shit.
Anyway, what it is that you can't do with a Mac that you can do with Windows? I do all the things I used to do as a Mac user. I get on the internet, play games, write e-mail, word process, bit torrent, design web sites. Hell, I actually do more. You can't get Final Cut Pro for a PC and the professional version of Avid is WAY overpriced, so what are all these things that you "CAN'T" do on a Mac? I'm not trying to argue, I'm just asking.
Spoiler: Darth Vader is Luke's father!

GOOD GOD FANBOYS GIVE IT A REST
"on topic", carrot cake > carrot pie so cake > pie (simple math because carrots for deserts is positive not negative). Yes here in the future you may have your cake and throw it in the next fanboy's face too.
Looks to me that you're bad at building computers.
I've built about 20 computers so far this year, all running perfectly fine. I'm a 16 year old kid, and I've been doing this since I was 14. I think you need to learn how to properly build computers.
Oh, by the way, I have NEVER worn an anti-static wrist band. Oh and I built by self a machine just like yours, except it was with an 8800GT with ONE GB of ram. By computer runs Mac OSX Leopard just fine, along with Windows XP. Oh and my Quad core is running at 3.6Ghz, what about you?
This was about 4 months ago, and guess how much it cost me? 900. I also get 3 year warranty on my CPU and motherboard, and lifetime on my Video Card, Case and PSU.
yeah, I find desktops computers have terrible battery life
don't you mean notebooks do......unless that was sarcasm?
yeah it was a reply to your comment, but it didn't work
dammit!
DOTA!
WC3 TFT FTW! I think that it's the expansion...
Yeah, it is. It's using one of the TFT heroes.
No that is DoTA my friends.
Your an idiot, It is dota and TFT
TFT = The Frozen Throne.
DotA and TFT
Yup, definitely DOTA!!
I hate the alchemist by the way...
Indeed, DotA is the best game ever, except maybe Smash Brothers Brawl. But definitely the best PC game ever, for me at least. But then I'm not into FPSs that much.
The hardware sounds impressive, but without OSX, it is meaningless.
Just took 12 minutes for an OSX reference, new record!
Fucking retard. Gaming hardware is useless on OS X, so stop that fanboyism and go jerk off while looking at your iphone...
OSX is awful only thing it is good for is for media. No games, no programs, limited everything.

Please do not feed the trolls. Thank you.
Wow clak , Windows is installed on a MAC and you run a game.
Go in your kitchen sorry... go you your iKitchen, get a iSpoon, dig a iHole, hide inside and get out when iLife tells you to.
You are forgetting that he said OS X which is the operating system, so things like Crysis running on bootcamp will not be suitable for this argument.

OSX is great (in my opinion), but damn people are allowed to disagree with you. I mean, Windows isn't THAT bad.
You know what's really great about these videos? Just about all of them are running on iMacs, the mid level Mac. That kind of kills the argument of all those idiots who say, "Apple hardware sucks. Macs can't run Crysis, blah, blah, blah." I have a Mac Pro. So of course, it blows those iMacs away.
Hell, I didn't think much of Gears of War until I saw this video. I think I may pick this up tomorrow. I got nothing against Windows games, because they really don't have much to do with Microsoft, except for the money that Microsoft slipped Epic for GOW, but that's okay, I'll overlook it this one time.

as raging_hamsterx says below:
"will it play doom?", or more importantly will it play Doom 3?
hahah sorry, i just like to mess with u, i like both windows and macs, no preference, but you are a bit over protective of macs...
Doom 3 on a Mac

I installed XP in boot camp for my sister, just in case she needed it on her iMac, and she hasn't used it once. My nine year old niece, on the other hand, likes to play games, but what the hell am I gonna buy her, even in Boot Camp? Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto, Doom 3? Hell no.
That's biggest problem with Games for Windows. There are almost no games for people under thirteen. So I found a SNES emulator made for OS X. Now she plays all the Super Mario Brother games, 1, 2, 3, Mario World 1, Mario World 2 and a bunch of other games from SNES. She loves it.
Eventually, though, I know she will want a console. And what am I gonna buy her? A fucking Xbox 360? You think I wanna explain to a nine-year-old why there's a Red Ring on her console? Hell no. I'll probably buy her a Wii next Christmas, since she's already been introduced to the Mario World.

@clak
Guess what dude - I DONT GIVE A F*CK!!!!!
clak, every single one of those games is being run on a mac, but, while running windows XP via bootcamp. so technically, they are just being run on a windows PC, and at about 3-4 times the cost of just buying one with windows preinstalled, or building it yourself.
We have dell, hp, acer, asus, apple etc.., or you could build it yourself, no matter what, it is still a pc, using standard pc parts. It's not like a mac is something special, no, it's still using the same parts as any other windows or linux based pc, and when you install windows on it using bootcamp or whatever, then it becomes a windows pc at an insanely high price. buying an apple PC just to run windows on it, and play games, is almost like buying a voodoo pc, is it any better than far cheaper computers? nope, but it does cost more so it must be better right?
most of the games you listed were created in DirectX ONLY.. they do not, and will never run in OSX because DirectX is a product of microsoft.
Oh, and lastly, I just don't understand mac users.. I've used OSX for a few hours, and don't see what's so good about it. Linux can be setup to run just like osx, but you dont have to worry about overpriced , un-upgradable hardware. And with windows, not only can you upgrade your pc at a FAR lower price, but you have the assurance of knowing that you can run 99.99999% of all software & hardware on it. And about the viruses thing, well the ratio of pcs running OSX to those running windows is around 100 to 0.05 so this figure is quite obvious which hackers would want to target.
Again, if you didn't understand above because your so high strung on defending your overpriced purchase... When you install windows on a MAC pc, it becomes a windows PC..
*Proud user of a custom built quad core, 4gb OCZ pc6400, 8800gt, 2TB, 2x dvd RW's, 680i SLI gaming pc that outperforms every mac at 1/4th the price, and runs any os I want it to, not just windows. I also run a custom built pc running linux for my TF2 server which cost me under $200 total.*
it's Dota dudes, you can tell by the spawn.
thank you for answering a question no one asked, or cared about unless they already knew the answer.
Until I stared for awhile at the picture I thought the display had mold/mildew on it.
Oh, IT PLAYS DotA!!!
(lolz)
If you look in the background there are a couple of macs being used as a stage for a thinkpad.
Please try not to cry, iEye.
All I see is a macbook pro on the table !!!
yeah, there are two, with a thinkpad lording it on top
Eh? I don't like Macs.
DoTA! awesome. I just finished a game myself, and open up ol' Engadget, and what do I see at the top, someone playing DotA!
Defense of the Ancients custom game ftw
Another bad thing about gaming notebooks is that they're basically useless until you buy a mouse, because who plays using the touchpad. I'd rather get a pc with more power for cheaper and always have it plugged in rather than have a notebook with like 2 hours of battery life.
Logitech VX Nano fixes that. Dell had it like 50% off not too long ago too..
It's a good thing the ASUS laptops come with a mouse, now you have no excuse.
yeah, but its hard to use that mouse if you're on a park bench like the guy is in the article.
That said, trackball anybody?
Ryan,
The article doesn't mention the "M70VM" as you've titled, so it should be "M51VA" surely?
Vi sitter här i venten och spelar lite DotA.
Clak, I'm still waiting for a video of any of those games running through OSX.
but clak, will it play doom?
What a n00b, getting heart as a first item for alchemist. Didn't even level up his stun -fail
Uhh... He's actually referring to OSX, not Mac. No one said Mac can't run games, we'll, without Windows on it you won't be playing a lot though. So if you're one of those elitist Mac users that say Windows sucks, shame on you for promoting gaming on Macs which is possibly by Windows.
Crap typos. Can't we have a petition to make Engadget add an edit feature to the posts?
Seriously... who rushes heart on warlock?
you need to go something badass like guinsoo refresher. =/
Actually, that is Alchemist, not Warlock... but nice try.
Not to say a lone heart is a good build, but I'm gonna have to go out on a limb here and assume he is just messing around in single player. (Seriously who would play DotA on a track pad, and take pictures of their screen mid game.)
yeah, have to agree with some guy, no one would play dota on a touchpad and if they didn't get any items before the heart I doubt they could have survived long enough to farm a heart.
Am I the only one that thinks it's stupid to show DoTA on a 'new' laptop? Hell, I can play DoTA on my Q1 Ultra UMPC.
Nah, I think it's stupid too, but it's cool to see how awesome dota is that people still play it so much. Although recently it seems like a bunch of assholes have invaded bnet.
all the games on mac were on windows too, but not vice versa. Pz mac dudes
I hate dota. Footmen Frenzy is the way to go.
Wait, is he playing Starcraft II on that laptop?
DOTAAAA
