ASUS intros the Eee Monitor all-in-one PC, says more Eee models on the way
Clearly intent on dismembering and destroying competition in every facet of the personal computing world, ASUS has finally unveiled that all-in-one, iMac-esque addition to its Eee lineup we told you about in January. Dubbed the Eee Monitor, the device will range in the 19- to 21-inch size, sport a built-in TV tuner, and will be priced at around $500. The system is expected to ship sometime in September along with it's 42-inch big brother, the Eee TV, and two other mystery objects known as the Eee S1 and Eee K1. We can only hope that this news paves the way for the Eee Phone and Eee Pants.

the EEEphone would run Android, not WinMo 6.
Hellios: Given the way they've muddled the EeePC, I would expect an EeePhone to come with a choice of Android or WinMo.
I can't believe Asus is finally doing something right, the last time they did that was the announcement of the $199 really small laptop years ago.
iMac-esque? I think you mean old cinema display-esque.

Wasn't there an iMac of that same era (post-igloo, pre-aluminum) that looked like that same era of cinema displays? And thus would resemble the Eee Monitor?
Does it works??
Wow, I smell an Apple lawsuit... It looks like the iMac, and the font is pretty darn close, too!
Actually it looking nothing like the iMac (other then being all in one) -- what it does look ALOT like however is Apple's older cinema displays, just look at the following image...

might take a little while to load since its from archive.org
I can't wait for Eee Pants! They'll scan my credit card when I put it in my pocket, and then when I want to make an online purchase I can just clench my cheeks and the pants will transmit the information wirelessly to my Eee Eyes glasses, which I'm using to browse the web on a virtual 175" screen.
That may have come off as sarcastic, but really, I want this to happen.
Personally I'm holding out for the Eee by Gum!
i need that to happen just as quik as i need WWIII to start
but that happening would start WWIII
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Touchscreen? Something like this with a touchscreen would be awesome. Could this be what the 3COM Audrey was going to be when it grew up? Audrey's are still used with the home automation crowd.
Asus is becoming Apple for people with a tight budget, LOL!
And this from such a ugly-website company :-D
I cant wait for the Eee Zoo
And nobody bothers to ask if it's upgradeable? Isn't that the whine factor amongst iMac complainers? Or do Windows computers get a pass on that subject?
No graphics card? Sheesh, how can I run Crysis on this? :-P
Actually, it looks cool. But notice, it won't even run Vista. You can bet it won't make a good hackintosh. But as a Linux machine, looks pretty promising.
Looks like Asus are trying to make their EEE-penis a lot bigger.
HONK HONK
They definitely need to hire a few graphic designers if they want to keep up with Apple.
Although nice to see a company selling such great budget machines that are designed so well.
I think if Apple was going to bring a lawsuit they would probably have needed to patent integrated monitor/PCs which they obviously haven't, Sony, Dell and co all sell them.
It's looking alot more obvious now that ASUS are definitely going to be spinning EEE off into a seperate company at some point.
Can't wait to see an iPhone competitor.
Eee Suck its just a cheap knock off of of the iMac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you guys just look hard at both of them and they both look the same!
the fact is that apple products are generally overpriced and restrictive, but other companies have inferior brand cache and design prowess and therefore are unable to effectively compete
Asus is diversify the Eee into more than just a subnotebook because it realises that Eee represents an oppurtunity to build a coherent design vision, and achieve a critical mass of design capability.
Maybe there are similarities between this computer and the imac but Apple weren't the first to stick a computer onto the back of a monitor, and I doubt they'll be the last; it's just neat.
Of course this product offers much of what an imac offers for a fraction of the price, but I think that has to be applauded. Consumers that want a good-looking, well branded computer for basic needs are no longer have buy a relatively over-powered buy an imac, and I think that's great.
Look on the brightside, if it eats into iMac sales, apple may lower their prices, which means more Apple for all you Fanboyz
really man... really? one hour, 60+ comments later? reaallyy??
Why would you call it the Eee Monitor?! The casual buyer is going to merely skim over it saying it's just a monitor and not a full fledged cpu...just thought it was bad marketing strategy.
nice
