Here's an interesting one. That
AMD netbook we spotted hanging around at Computex isn't a bona fide AMD product after all. According to the unit's device manager, it's actually an Everun, although the only Everun we know of looks
drastically different that the thing pictured above. In all likelihood, that moniker is simply a placeholder, and AMD spokesman Phil Hughes even confirmed that "it [was] a Raon Digital product." Reportedly, the unit will hit production at the end of July, and while a ship date wasn't mentioned, both a Sempron- and Turion-based version should be available. Early reports even suggest that WiBro / HSDPA could be found on select variations, but we'll give Raon Digital a chance to come clean before we dig deep into even wilder speculation.

did we really think that AMD ramped up a laptop plant over night? Of course its going to be a rebrand.
Also that name in device manager is just the hostname of the computer.

the clones are coming

I have to agree with you. Seems Asus just created a market.

Take all those AMD stickers off it and it will be more attractive.

And then the screen could be wider too.

Shiny Stickers Shine!

netbook genre SUCKS. UMPC FTW.
Genjinaro @ Jun 9th 2008 1:36PM
Raon Digital made battery life a high priority on the Everun and its regarded as one of the best UMPCs because of that. Hopefully this will follow suit.
Sarig @ Jun 9th 2008 1:48PM
Given the CPU, it wont. However, JKKmobil.com reports that Raon Digital have two seperate devices on the conveyor belt, so hopefully the other one will follow the Everun more closely as a batter conservative unit.
retro77 @ Jun 9th 2008 2:56PM
Sarig, you saying if it was running an Intel chip it would have a better battery life? You can come out your cave, its ok, we won't bite....TOO HARD!!! GET 'EM!!!
Sarig @ Jun 9th 2008 3:47PM
No, I'm saying that if it was using something specifically designed to use little power like the VIA or the Atom, it'd probably last a bit longer :p
I'll quote what someone wrote over at umpcportal.com
"The 1.86GHz Atom's ALU is over 5x more powerful than the LX900 and it only has a TDP of 2.5W. Synthetic benchmarks I've seen suggest that the 1.86GHz Atom will be significantly faster than the 900MHz Celeron and HyperThreading on the Atom should improve system responsiveness as well.
Using a 33W Turion TL-56 would be extremely detrimental to the battery life, make the unit run HOT and LOUD. Unless AMD has an ULV version of the TL-56 we don't know about, it certainly is not suitable for use in a UMPC."

best mini laptop ever. The original Everrun was already great.

Uh Oh! When I saw what they did with the bottom row of keys, I "threw up in my mouth a little."
