Engadget's WWDC 2008 predictions

Yes, it's almost that time -- WWDC 2008. By now you're well acquainted with the rumors circling Apple's next big event. Will the 3G iPhone make an appearance? Will Jobsy bust out a multitouch Newton tablet? Will Snow Leopard come in from the cold? It's anyone's guess, but the editors here at Engadget have a few hunches that you can pretty much bank on. Of course, you can see the real thing happen during our live coverage of the keynote set to start at 10:00AM PT / 1:00 PM ET.
Josh T: "Hillary Clinton named president... of AppleCare division. Finally, Universal AppleCare."
Ryan: "Apple announces acquisition of Sharper Image's remaining assets; rebadges flagship product line iOnic Breeze."
Thomas: "iPods, iMacs renamed EeePods and EeeMacs; iPhone launched which is somehow both bigger and smaller than the current model."
Chris: "iPhone Capsule is introduced to thunderous applause, allowing consumers to effortlessly go 'back in time' to retrieve their obsoleted iPhone models."
Josh F: "In a surprise move, Steve Jobs says 'But wait: There's more!' instead of his signature 'Just one more thing,' then proceeds to throw in a Shamwow and two Infinity Razors if you order in the next 30 minutes."
Paul: "Jobs in a white wife-beater tucked into Levi's 501 cutoffs."
[Okay, that last one is more a wish from Paul than a prediction.]

Judgement Day's here ;)
This is the most important event in the history of Western Civilization. Not since the Battle of Tours in 732 AD has there been such a momentous occasion when Charles Martel saved Europe from the Umayyad Caliphate.
3G iPhone will restore the Western supremacy in the mobile market.
Nokia already have the western supremacy in mobiles D'OH !
And yes although not as far west as America, Finland is in the west .
Mind you iPhones are made in China (The east) HA!
Considering that they're all made in China?
" and now with bootcamp mobile you can run windows mobile 6.1 and the iphone os, BOOM"
it would be cool but probably not
I'm not the worlds biggest iPhone fan , but Win Mobile 6 ? seriously ? I'd rather have Symbian or Android.
Latheral thinking? Nice!
None of that was funny. Just stick to the news, or hire people who are funny.
Yeah, so I'm getting kinda impatient....come on 1 pm! Im on EST.
I believe the theme is two's or something about two. If you remember their last theme "There is something in the air" when they presented the macbook air you can take the theme tagline pretty literal. Maybe they're totally updating the iphone and ipod touch (two) or introducing something else that has to do with two.
engadget should start a countdown....with 1 post every minute...
The iPhone won't be available until August!
I don't really get the huge excitment about the 3G iPhone, It'll have a faster network connection and a few new features. So ?
Much more excitied to hear about new macbooks or a rumoured iTablet or the one thing I've been dreaming about for years a PC version of OS X, maybe thats the big snow leoaprd buzz ! (Although I doubt it)
definitely a fake
Steve Jobs' in slightly grayer turtleneck.
3G iPhones
yeh what good would that do- a post every minute
people are already complaing that engadget is a apple sponsered site with all of their apple coverage
but this damn iPhone 2 better be good cause im sick of the coverage
"Engadget are amazing, for once they're not that serious, but they still know the limit, in opposite to Gizmodo who still should play in the kindergarden."
First of all, a lame "fluff" post about the iPhone can be no way considered amazing or the basis for the reason why you would think that Engadget is "amazing"
Regardless of the quality of the post, it's still a meaningless filler post meant to somehow make the day go by faster for people at Engadget until the WWDC starts.
It's lame no matter what way you spin it, and it doesn't make this post any better than something you would find on Gizmodo.
i wonder what jobs looks like in something like a tee shirt
guess wel never know.........
thats cause gizmodo sucks
Macbook Vapor, so thin it's only in your mind.
Hahaha frickin funny :)
gizmodo does suck and engadget rocks
i dont think apple will be that stupid
but people will still buy it
how bout a reintroduction of the iBook as a tablet
Cutoffs?? Is he a never-nude?
It's 11:17 AM here. This thing hasn't started yet?
My hope:
->3G iPhone with GPS, WiMax & front-facing camera, available immediately
->Renaming .Mac as Me.com, lots of fanfare
->Updated MacBooks - all brushed aluminum casing, built-in wireless cards, multitouch trackpads
->Multitouch iMacs
->Snow Leopard with advanced multitouch GUI support
->One More Thing (tm): Brushed aluminum/glass multitouch Apple Tablet
My prediction:
->3G iPhone with GPS, available at the end of June
->MacBooks now in brushed aluminum
->One More Thing (tm): Relaunching .Mac as Me.com or whatever.
I'd like to see all of Apple's products in brushed aluminum....
I think even Apple is "over" their fascination with brushed aluminum or clear plastic or white plastic or stainless or chrome.
I think they've finally gotten the clue that the touch of the keyboard is far more important that it being funky. And the screen of a laptop has to be high contrast. And the screen of the phone has to be scratch proof.
Now they just need to figure out cell phones have replaceable batteries and newton gestures were the key value in its GUI.
I've had three tablets and each was better than the last, but still far short of my expectations. It's a technology that requires fundamental advances (such as putting the sensor much closer to the image.) If Apple goes to a tablet format, I hope they've taken so long in bringing it out simply because they've solved problems, not just put a multi-touch UI on top. And they better have built a bombproof hinge. : )
Is it just me or is Engadget putting a lot more effort into their WWDC than Gizmodo? I've never really "chosen" between these two sites, but their coverage of Apple seems more useful.
New Mac-Mini is coming !
One more thing, fellas...introducing [pulls off shirt]...the iBeatHer, totally touch [punch] operated, with a front-facing camera and voice recorder so you can capture every glorious moment. Bleh.
