Foursome of AMD Puma-based laptops shown at Computex
Sure, checking out the benchmarks on the Puma-based Satellite A305 is all fine and dandy, but we just know you're craving more. Right? Good. Here we have a solid foursome of AMD Puma-packed notebooks, each one from a different walk of life. As expected, details were pretty limited at the kiosk, but at least it gives us hope that these machines (or something similar) should be hitting store shelves in the not-too-terribly-distant future. Go on down to the read link to check out the spruced up HP 6535us, unnamed Toshiba, Acer TravelMate 5530 and one other shy guy that managed to keep hidden.

It might not be on a shelf, but HP are already selling a Puma machine or two:

Which is funny, because I don't think they've actually announced much about it yet...

What's a puma?
STOP MAKING UP ANIMALS!
kjb434 @ Jun 10th 2008 6:27PM
Your not serious are you? A PUMA is another name for a feline animal.
Abuzar @ Jun 10th 2008 6:43PM
Next you will be telling me a Walrus is a real animal.
tekdroid @ Jun 10th 2008 7:44AM
One prefers Adidas?
*boom tish*

Is that a skin on Windows Vista on the left laptop? What the hell, the taskbar and the sidebar are transparant...
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Jun 10th 2008 8:14AM
Yes
Always been transparent. You can control the level of transparancy
CUBSWILLWIN @ Jun 10th 2008 8:04AM
your titles confuse me sometimes.
anabouboula @ Jun 10th 2008 8:21AM
Take that Nike!
itlnstln @ Jun 10th 2008 8:40AM
Mmmm... foursome. I'll take cougars instead of pumas, though.
Kurian @ Jun 10th 2008 10:43AM
Crap. Too slow. Please put Core 2s in them and people might actually buy them.
AMD should shut up and stop releasing shitty CPUs. Either make some thing even remotely close to performing as well as the competition, or sit quite and research instead of releasing crap.
David @ Jun 10th 2008 10:55AM
Kurian, you are a dick.
althought they may not be able to rival intel's latest & greatest, the majority of the chips intel ships seem to be 5450s and 5550s to the budget market.
Amd is able to compete effectively with these chips (mainly because they are over a year old tech)
AMD doesn't want to be in this position, it is trying its hardest to make better chips, but it is hard when they have so much less resources than Intel
dickheads like you don't help either
Kurian @ Jun 10th 2008 12:00PM
Yes, but the above laptops are relatively high end ones, just below the hardcore gaming laptops with 8800Ms.
An equivalent Intel based one will have a 7 series mobile CPU which usually blows away even most desktop CPUs.
David @ Jun 10th 2008 3:15PM
mm no I don't think so, I'm seeing a 3470, not a 3870.
Anyway even if it have high power graphics, I think it would be a balanced platform for gaming - cpu is usually the bottleneck
Mantikos @ Jun 10th 2008 11:14AM
Kurian, U r too slow...cause unless until u have benchmarked one without anyone noticing u stealing a machine out of Computex u r full of it....so shutup and stop releasing you mental feaces on to the board.
Please put a foot up his A** so he might actually stat making sense.
Intel should try and catch up the graphics then shoudlnt they fanboy?
Charles Han @ Jun 10th 2008 11:23AM
man what i am really curious moreover is what discrete graphic card they would use, hopefully 3850 or 3870
OneLove @ Jun 10th 2008 12:26PM
All these code names and cpu numbers are making my head hurt. It's getting a little confusing. (which is what I think they want).
