ASUS' Eee PC 1000H goes on sale in Taiwan
In a world filled with painful delays, seeing ASUS' 10-inch Eee PC 1000H on sale this soon after being introduced at Computex is like a breath of fresh air. Or mildly stagnant air, considering we're not anywhere close to Taiwan. Nevertheless, said machine is indeed up for grabs for those on that side of the planet, and just as we expected, it's demanding NT$18,988 (or around $625). C'mon ASUS, you've got swarms of North Americans (and Europeans, etc.) just champing at the bit here.

Yup, Im champing over here in the UK. Cant wait!
sorry, too ugly when compared with acer aspire and msi wind.
I believe we would all be 'chomping'...
Am I the only one that things they're going to keep going into they have a 15.4" eeePC? Of course, I still want it...
Yes, you are the only one that things that :-)
Sorry...I'm in a super critical mood right now...
CHOMPING at the bit
I was very happy to see the CORRECT use of champing, and not chomping here. Yeah I'm a language freak.
No really, go look it up. Yes it's weird. Cool eh?
Champing and chomping mean the same thing; both versions are acceptable. Pedantry is irritating. Misplaced pedantry, unbearable.
OOooh... i stand corrected. "Champing" at the bit, indeed. Colloquialisms are stupid, lol.
I must admit, those prices are still a little too high to be interesting for me. You can get a lot more grunt from a full featured laptop for only slightly more weight, yet slightly less money.
Get it back around $400 and we'll talk Asus.
Anyone know how soon after the 700 and 900 series were released in Taiwan, did they appear on sale in North America?
That would be very interesting to know. I'm eagerly awaiting a 901.
No bluetooth? Still hanging on for one with bluetooth.
Yes, it has Bluetooth, 802.11n, and the Atom. And the picture above is the 901, not the 1000(H).
WooHoo!!
This should be called the EEEE-PC. The fourth E is for expensive.
yeah i'm about ready to drop 5 bens on an MSI Wind
I'm with you on that.. too expensive for my tastes considering its about 150 more than an msi wind which has exactly the same features.
Asus needs to shore up the pricing strategy a little bit, an extra 150 bones for the same unit is not much of a choice
Maybe because ASUS et al. are Taiwanese ... ?
Ha, until you let us have the iPhone, TOUGH! We should keep all the HTC stuff as well, just for revenge!
701 4LIFE!!!
because they're MADE there, you stupid fat arrogant american.
Dear Asus CEO,
Please fire your stupid ass marketing team for
1) thinking you can sell this charging 2x the price of the original model, despite a cheaper CPU, and lower production costs overall.
2) the name EEE PC
3) the name ASUS
Nope. 900 coming tomorrow, my 701 on Fleabay now.
It's amazing that most of you guys really dumb or just plain ignorant.
Well of of course if you only compare with dell that you u can get a core 2 duo for the same price than yes its expensive. But you comparing apple and orange. Did u know that the SSD itself for the 40GB cost OVER $500 on newegg, so the computer itself only $125 dlr. People please go to the hospital on do a scan on your head, make sure that your brain is still there.
speaking of dumb and ignorant, if a certain someone READ THE ARTICLE, s/he would have seen
"The model on sale comes with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 1GB or RAM, an 80GB SATA hard drive..."
sinai... oh sinai... you're certainly not the brightest bulb.

just click on the link, and if only you have half mass of a brain, than you will understand what i am talking about.
ciao...
Because though Americans make most of the concepts, other countries do all the works, like Taiwan and China.
Anybody else remember that first trade show where the Eee line was unveiled, and the basic model was supposed to retail for under $200? Enough with the feature creep, Asus, I want the super-affordable super-portable you promised me.
