Sanyo's 52-inch 1080p CE52SR1 LCD sheds water
Oh sure, waterproof LCD TVs have been available for ages, but Sanyo's making the choice of which outdoor display to buy simple with the introduction of its CE52SR1. You see, unlike many alternatives, this waterproof set packs a 1080p Full HD panel, meaning that you can enjoy your Blu-ray films in full-res glory while slouched in a beach chair beside your pool. Furthermore, the display is daylight readable and features a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, 1,500 cd/m2 brightness, 6.5-millisecond response time, 176-degree viewing angles, a slew of inputs and a frame constructed from marine grade anodized aluminum. Unfortunately, the summer in America will be long over before you can actually drop $13,995 in order to claim one, but October isn't too far out, now is it?

I'd rather buy a 52" LCD and an umbrella to put over it and save the extra 10K.
I wouldn't mind spending $10K for this.....BUUTT its the 176 degree viewing angle that's a deal breaker for me. What happened to 178?!?
HAHA
Considering they didn't list a size, for that price-range I'm assuming its 75".
incredible, but what's with the price?! I would rather ship over a wife from Sweden for that kind of dough...
*GASP*
Wow.. and OCTOBER launch for an outdoor product. Great going Sanyo.
At least this will drop a TON before next spring/winter before anyone actaully wants to buy one.
..er... Spring/Summer
The purpose of a waterproof LCD is NOT to enjoy Blu-ray movies outside.
The purpose is to enjoy Blu-ray movies in your shower.
You take two hour showers?

Uhhhh-huh...
Looks to be more aimed towards train times at the the station than blu-ray in your bathroom.
I was really excited about this product until i reached the price!!! It is way too expensive for that I'll put a raincoat over another tv!!
Hell for that price you could buy several tvs and swap them out every time they start to get a little too dirty (disposable tvs).
I wonder if it´s more convenient to patch the holes on my roof or just upgrade to one of these...
As a general rule, I look for sets where the contrast ratio is higher than the price.
That's very bright. I think.
The TV, that is. ;)
San Diego!
You'll see these displays at Universal Studios Hollywood at The Simpsons Ride in the queue.
