You apparently have not been to a lan party. People with gaming laptops have it made. Everyone else carries around a tower and a monitor, and you just sit down, open it up, and look around smugly. I don't, since i'm too poor to blow that kind of money on a gaming laptop, but damn I hate those smug bastards.
a survey carried out for ibm 2 months ago that i worked on revealed that out of 1387 respondents 564 scored 8+ positive the the statement and its follow up "my laptop isnt in the portable class" "i purchased it so that when i do have to take it with me somewhere im not inconvenienced"
How often did you actually move your laptop this year? "once ot twice" 684 agreed that this was the most appropriate answer.
Friends of mine at uni bought laptops and always used my pc to game but bought theirs because they went back home 3 times during the year and didnt want to bother packing it away and carrying it. Most people will buy a laptop for reasons like this...

Portables such as these are considered "desktop replacement" computers. "Laptop" is a misnomer. They aren't made for ultimate portability or ultimate performance. They're intended to serve a demand for very high performance and portability in a package which balances both well.
You obviously don't understand the advantages of a laptop. And yes, with these laptops, you will probably have better specs than most people's desktop at LANs.

Gaming laptops make no sense..They are too big/heavy to carry around, and if it's just going to be in 1 place, then get a desktop..

Not really, I have a mx15, and its not too heavy, i don't mind carrying it daily, and the performance is great in my opinion.
Give me a laptop that can beat a desktop setup for a gaming lan party..
