Montevina-Based Sony VAIO FW, Z, SR, BZ laptops around the bend?
We'll start this by suggesting you take everything from here on out with a healthy dose of salt, but given that Sony has a history of updating its VAIO laptop line in one fell swoop, there's enough credibility here to pass it along. With everyone that hopes to remain relevant in the laptop sector going to Montevina as soon as feasibly possible, it's no shock to hear that Sony's VAIO FW, Z, SR and BZ series units will be making the same leap this summer. Currently, there aren't a whole lot of specifications floating about, but we do know the VGN-FW line will sport an atypical 16.4-inch display while both the VGN-Z and VGN-SR lines check in as subnotes. For a wee bit more on the supposedly forthcoming crew, surf southwest to the read link.

That was one of the most cryptic headlines ever.

Sony's new VFD system implements TQ3 functionality and BBQ sensibility.
I like how much the Z series looks like the TZ, very very similar design.
But its puzzling that the Z series has no media buttons unlike the FW and SR considering it has an HDMI port and presumably, a Blu-Ray drive option.
Hoping they do a good job with the new TZ replacement as well as keep the price down. I've had a TX and currently a TZ and, while expensive, are phenomenal laptops. Screen and resolution rock.
With the introduction of all these new inexpensive "subnotebooks" around now Sony will need to be on top of their game with the new Z. It will have to be special if they expect people to spend the money (like the TX was ~3 years ago).
I just got a SZ premium. Any ideas on whether I should return it and wait for one of these new ones?
I would wait for the Z series which is replacing the SZ.
For starters, it has a 16:9 widescreen display, its design is more compact than the SZ. It'll have better performance, battery life and HDMI out as well.
My only issue is it has no hardware media buttons, not a big deal but still puzzling.
Depends whether or not you can be without a laptop for a few months. Seems like a pretty sure thing that they're coming shortly, so if you can do without a laptop or use another (old?) one then maybe you should return it and wait for the latest and greatest.
looks like my sz680 is gonna be out of date...anyway, im glad to finally see the redesigned VAIOs soon...
You just cant keep up with technology these days. Looks like my hal year old VAIO is starting to get out of date.
your HAL laptop?
I ment 'Half', its clearly a unintended mistake.
well, you never know.. maybe you had a 2001-themed laptop!
err not really idiot, its a FZ.
ha, it's a joke, douchebag, now eat my shit
looks like someones got a temper! btw you can save that shit and eat it yourself like you do with your boyfriends.
is that a come-on? next time get a clue on your own stupidity before calling someone an idiot, noob.
Ha! its clearly your the noob here because of the low intelligence that you have to figure out a simple typo from the start at end of the day. Don't bother coming up with some more crappy defence again just because I've upset you, I don't have time for losers like yourself.
seems to launching in europe before the usa
gonna be nice but price as sony always is
i was thinking of going for a sz, phoned sonystyle (UK) yesterday (23rd june) and they said theyre low on laptops cos the new range is coming shortly
Does anyone think they will release the premium model when these come out? or will it be a few months later?
