Looks like we cleaned them out of the ZM-86 2.4GHz CPU when they ran their $500 off $1399 or more coupon last week for the tx2500z. One heck of a deal that was, especially considering this is now DDR2-800 instead of the standard 667.

The dv5z has the same design language and imprint finish that will be on the Intel equipped dv4t, dv5t, and dv7t when they become available in a couple months. If you like the new case design, I suggest waiting until then.

No need, just make an Ubuntu derivative at most.
Mantikos @ Jun 25th 2008 7:01PM
HP love the design!
Mantikos @ Jun 25th 2008 7:08PM
Yea, I love this new design, more cause its with Vista and not a b***h a*s OS like leopard (whatup 'pussy'-cat)
try setting up a WPA2 Ent connection on leopard...all the best, it will display it as a WPA Ent connection...dont believe me come down to my university and I will show you thousands who have that issue!
Infact our Tech Dept had to spend $6000 in Austin to have a Mac tech trained on how to work aroudn this known bug, which will be fixed in what is essentially a new SP, but called a new OS (Snow B***h or whatever the f**k they call it!)

Did you just try to sound hard talking about operating systems?
Mantikos @ Jun 26th 2008 3:03AM
I is str8 O.G....lol...but yea, what I said is soooooooo true!

@ Mental Issues.....
is it coming out in a couple of months for Centrino 2 or is there no specific reason
Mental Issues @ Jun 25th 2008 8:03PM
Yeah, that's it exactly. HP's new laptops were actually announced several weeks ago, but have been delayed because of Centrino 2.

Why reinvent the wheel?

To anyone relatively new to Engadget, clak is a common troll and must not be fed!
Jay @ Jun 25th 2008 8:11PM
Yeah, my 11 month old dv6000z is horribly obsolete!
DrunkMonkey @ Jun 25th 2008 8:28PM
Ha Ha. Good one.
I have a 44 month old zv5000 that I use everyday. Talk about obsolete...

Anyone know how these ATI Radeon 3450 graphics are on laptops? Any benchies out to compare against the 8600M GT???
Laughing Man @ Jun 25th 2008 8:36PM
First of, the 8600M GT woud beat out a 3450 intergrated, but most Lappies with the 3450 also runs the 780G for another 25% to 33% boost in performance in CrossfireX. That would make it a chanllenge.
This is a really Nice laptop for a very good price for the power you get. This is something that I would honestly look into getting if I didn't plan on spending that $800 on a new TV.

Clak is a person who annoys everyone. Just continue on.
I LOVE SUCKING MY MOM'S DIK- Clak

It's good to have you back clak. I missed you.
El Taco @ Jun 25th 2008 9:34PM
Puma? What, like the shoe company?
Mile @ Jun 25th 2008 10:21PM
Y'all need to stop using the word "lappies" now. It's incredibly feminine.
Mental Issues @ Jun 25th 2008 10:45PM
So you would prefer to have something more burly and masculine against your thighs?
El Taco @ Jun 25th 2008 11:03PM
and I'm just a no-name who nobody knows and likes to post '1st post!' and 'but does it play Doom?' and likes to say 'I would put an apple logo on it to make it sexier' on ask engadget posts.
but I like to think I keep things moving
o ya and Clak everyone is just jealous of you. I agree with (almost) everything you say, and you're one of the few half-way intelligent people on engadget. You actually prove your posts.

As others have noted, good looking design. Same look from the DV series of the past. The gloss exterior looks good and is pretty durable than the cheap plastic most laptops utilize. The only thing better is using magnesium or some sort of metal components.
HP can make some good looking laptops; I don't understand why people think the MacBook actually looks stellar. Granted, the matte finished black book looks sharp. But white? Ugh, it's so tacky - the computer looks like an appliance. Not to mention I love to still see users have their laptop palm rests already deteriorating with little yellow/dark spots. Lovely.
Clak, you're an idiot. You're used to Mac because that's what you have to use for your precious film school. What about the 1,000s that must utilize business/enterprise software that must run on a Windows environment? Until I see Apple tackling business type software and not the consumer market - I don't see MS going anywhere any time soon. Regardless of the problems they've had with Windows Vista. Windows 7 will be here within a year and half to two years.
Remember OS 8 and 9; yeah, that's what I thought.
Also, try Ubuntu Linux its a very good OS - the software is a little archaic in some respects.... but still very fast and stable.
