Eee PC 901 and 1000 to ship in US on July 8?
We've gotten just about as much info on the Eee PC 901 and 1000 as we can handle, but we've been missing that most important piece of data until now: a US release date. That might be about to change, though, as ASUS's pre-sales department has apparently been telling people that the 901 and 1000 will ship on July 8th. Of course, that's not a firm commitment, and ship dates have been known to slip, but if you've been waiting to cold-cock that piggy bank, well, let the countdown begin.

Bonus points for sneaking 'cock' in there!
I love it when Engadget sneaks 'cock' into places of my interest ;] ...
[which includes my interest in Eee PCs]

..oh, and that's what she said.

The sooner the better :)
I've been waiting for a faster Eee to supplement my HUGE Dell Inspiron 1520, and here it is. It just can't come soon enough.
Should do very well in places where I don't feel like lugging around this thing around. It is a hassle.

i think i will still wait to see the Dell E or the MSI Wind or even the Acer Aspire One or Gigabyte M912 mini-tablet or ECS G10IL but really idk there is too many to choose from and little known about some

welcome to the forum LuvMuffin,
you make a good point. I agree with you, there are a whole load of products coming to the table.
In terms of generations, if we were to call the EeePC 7" and its friends, generation one, then right now we are witnessing the rush to the generation 2 table, which EeePC is already sat at, and eating the starters have a general little chit chat with the likes of HP2133.
But, I suspect that actually generation 3 is just around the corner. We have the Dual Core Atom processors, together with the AMD offerings and the new Via, about to come out.
There are a whole plethora of other guest looking to dine, I think that if they sit down at the generation 2 table, it will be short lived. I think that there is a bleeding edge here that could be painful to get cut on, especially if your replacement cycle is 18 month to 2 years.
After all those metaphores, I am thinking about waiting to Oct/Nov. I certainly am not buying one until I have touched a felt the Dell offering. I still don't think that they can be beaten for Service and Warranty.

@kccboy2004
thank u for the welcome
if not until after December is till i am waiting most likely unless the dell looks feels and is amazing but i also would like a tablet and the Gigabyte M912 mini-tablet looks like it could be promising

But in Scandinavia it will be on selected shop-shelves by the end of september.
I knew this was the date everyone wanted to know.
kccboy2004 @ Jun 27th 2008 2:29AM
@kilgore,
which one do you mean, are you talking the dual core or the dell.
frankly, it is so damned exciting all these diminutive products coming out...
I actually just ordered a D945GCLF + Pico90w + spinpoint m6 + 2gbRAM to chuck in my kitchen for recipe's and surfing, but now the Eeec desktop pc is coming out, I reckon that I am going to pop for a 6 inch screen, and slap that lot (with a lesser hard drive), into the bathroom and then put the Eec in the kitchen.
I mean for $300 we are talking about replacement cycle (for me) of one year (the unit then gets slotted elsewhere - toilet etc - for door monitoring!).
The only thing really missing from all of this is a reasonalbe priced ($150) 10 inch shallow backed touchscreen monitor.
A little off-topic, but heck, sue me.

If the 10 inch version is coming to the US by july 8th. Then its defenitly worth a trip (or online order)
The European version is going to get released in September, and the price differences are huge!
For example the 7inch was 299 USD (190 euro) while in Europe it was 299 Euro (470 USD)!!
KilgoreTrout @ Jun 27th 2008 3:11AM
I´'m talking about all EEEs laptops (dunno 'bout desktop).
All , all EEEs laptops.
And I know exactly what you mean. I'm gonna get a little eee myself just to keep it plugged into my HI-FI and use it only to digitalize old vinyles LPs, maybe the occasional ripping and to keep it connected with the NAS and the desktop's hd.
Been missing somethng
KilgoreTrout @ Jun 27th 2008 3:25AM
been missing something like this
Sam Zebian @ Jun 27th 2008 3:13AM
I REALLY hope this is the official release date, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE FOREVER!!! I almost bought an eee 900, but when I had almost been ready to order it, the newer one was announced, and it really perked my interest. I have all of the accessories for it, now I just need it!
jet @ Jun 27th 2008 5:02AM
Same thing here, I've been tracking Eee's news and stuff since they announced the 900 model. That means more than 3 months of wait. I'm dying to put my hand on one of those.
phanbouy @ Jun 27th 2008 3:25AM
dude! you remember paris hilton or the Eee? it's totally 00's!
Randavance @ Jun 28th 2008 6:36PM
I can't wait, the sad thing is that it's going to be my main computer and actually and upgrade spec wise from my Linux pc.
connmannic @ Jun 29th 2008 3:27PM
this is already out.... I have already seen the eee-pc 901 in a store in Chattanooga, TN
