glaringly reflective
More like glaringly beautiful.
@Anthony
Stop staring at your reflection, narcissist. ;p
The scary thing is when I said something was beautiful, you assumed it was me... I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or be creeped out.
*gets uncomfortably close to Anthony* Why'd you be creeped out beautiful?
I like my MacBook Pro better. If it wasn't for the orange and I actually liked Windows operating systems, I would buy it....
Translation: "If it was...a mac...I'd buy it."
Someone at Valve told me Orange was sexy. I believe him. *want*
you can customize it however you want. practically with any color combo. also i think you can get it to ship OS free.
I'll be interested if someone gets it to run OSX86
@Thiago A.
It's one thing to have a MacBook and like it.
Another thing entirely to point out your ownership like it makes you cool.
Moral of the story: You suck.
For some reason it looks to me like something that came straight out of Ben Heck workshop. I say that because it reminds me of the Console laptops he makes.
Looks pretty cool but it's going to end up a big greasy fingerprint trap.
This is the first PC laptop I've seen where I really feel like there is an attempt to put together something that is mroe than just functional. I'm not a huge fan of the orange (will it come in other colors, i think a good forrest green or deep blue would look great) but its an all around great looking laptop. And thats coming from a Mac user.
it comes in a crapload of other colors lol.
I talked to a voodoo employee on NBR and he said you can get any color you want. Voodoo has an automotive paint shop so.. describe what you want or send them a sample and they will match it! Good stuff, but not cheap. IIRC, a premium paint job was $500+ on the old systems. That wasn't even a custom color.

you are in luck my friend, coz this thing is customised! you choose the color!
Can you tell me why in GOD's name this had to be compared to the Mac Book Pro? Why can't a different product just be what it is, "A Different Product". Gosh......
Anyway, sweet looking. But got me thinking of the job of keeping all the smudges off it :)
When did I compare it to a MacBook Pro? I said very clearly "I like my MacBook Pro better". Read before you comment.
In all fairness Nicky, it does bear more than a passing similarity to the MacBook Pro, and you also have to admit that as far as well designed laptops go the MBP has set a high standard. I wouldn't call it a copy or anything like that, but it does seem to have learned a few lessons from its Apple cousin.
My reply should have been to Krizoitz... not sure what happened.
That's hot!
Don't tell Paris.
No thank you.
Figerprints?! No one brings that up with the iphone
I really do not like the way this thing looks, and it will probably look worse as time progresses. It looks like the gloss on the black will scratch under the pressure of a falling hair. Much like the first-gen Apple iPod Nanos did.
I'm glad it comes in more colors than orange though.
I can't get over how ugly this thing is... I'm not envious at all. It may just be the black and orange combination... but do not want.
it sure is shiny. as the beholder, though, i can't say i think this is "beautiful," either. not that my dell latitude was ever pretty. or cheap. or well-made. or fast. or durable. (you get the idea.) do i lose more points if i also confess that i don't like macbook pros, either?
i think my dream machine is still the one that art student made out of hemp, granola, and twigs.
Unless they replaced that MIRROR with a screen that does allows people to read, no thanks.
The MIRROR is a deal-breaker.
It's so beautiful!
And how is that not a comparison?
That is... beautiful.
Yet horribly expensive.
wonder how it would look like when it gets old and dirty
Looks very square
Too bad I can't afford a decent laptop
This has to be the sexiest laptop I have ever seen.
oh god, the textured touchpad!
i had the displeasure of using one of those, it was one of the most uncomfortable pointing devices i've ever used. i couldn't imagine using one every single day
exactly. the textured touch pad was the 2nd thing i saw, after the gloss finish
hate textured touch pads
I called to preorder mine and the customer service rep told me in a very sexy voice that i could also get the touch pad in "ribbed" and "extra sensitive". I got mine in lime green and black. tres sexy.
smudgetastic. i'm anal enough about iphone smudges, i can't imagine getting this! it certainly does look sexy though.
how can i buy this??? still not up for sale on voodoopc.com
You can call and preorder
Delicious.
gorgeous
That's a really nice looking mirror.
Saucy!!!
Damn. Glossy screens are a plague on the laptop market. Whenever I'm in a retailer, I always hear people (usually girls) run up to a computer and say "wow, it's so shiny!", so I know this catches people's eyes' in stores (and websites, apparently), but sheesh, they can be a serious pain in the real world.
mmmmmm..
it's beautiful ^_^
*fap fap fap*
no seriously though, it looks beautiful, and the tech specs are impressive for being so small.
i guess a family pack of cleaning towels are included in the price of the envy and I hope you can order the cleaning materials later as well...10packs, family packs or every 11th delivery for free...and a very weeeird orange...
Quite sexy, except for the hideous choice of orange. :)
Any color you want? Id like one in electric blue outside with flat black inside please.
Yes it's pretty but...
Max display 1280x800
Max processor 1.8GHz, 4MB cache
Max hard drive 80G 4200RPM --wtf?!?!
Max RAM 2GB
Battery 3 cell
One USB port/one eSata-USB combo (are you freaking kidding?)
So, all in all, another useless PC Laptop.
Why can't somebody make a decent freaking PC notebook (says the guy running Win XP on a MacBookPro)?!
Voodoo Envy Halloween edition.
I think the width is unbelievable .. at .7 inches EVERYWHERE (the airbook is .16-.76) and with ports ... pretty sweet. Weight's pretty svelte and I really like the ambient light sensors, the proximity sensors for the keyboard and touchpad cuz I like eyecandy. I think the router/powerbrick is pretty innovative. I also think the IOS is a great touch. I can see using that a lot. The fit and finish looks excellent. Shoot ... I want one now.
Sexier than any Macbook (or pro) I've seen. Oh, and look, you actually get to choose differant colors besides white, black, and aluminum.... it's almost like it's made to fit your personality instead of a company's.
Finally, a beautiful laptop that's NOT a Mac. (I own and use both a XP laptop and a MBP, on a daily basis, so stfu mac/non-mac fanboys).
Though I own a MacBook Pro, I'd much prefer to have one of these (specifically in orange and black). The Envy 133 is lighter than my 15" MBP and would create less strain on the shoulder, which means it is not only prettier but preferable for travel.
The price is worse than a MBP's, though, which makes me wonder aloud: how much installation can be done by the user? The MacBook Air is offensively restrictive and an oxymoron (a sealed non-customizable laptop!), but the 133 claims not to be. How easy is it to swap out the battery, increase the RAM and update the graphics card? Premium prices for consumer components seem unnecessary and unfair; we ought to be able to avoid them.
Pity we're in a recession and fearing for our jobs. I'd buy this instantly if I weren't concerned about my financial longevity.
(Edit: Never mind the battery-swapping comment. I must have been extremely tired when I wrote that.)
Edit: Never mind battery-swapping question: Everyone knows about the battery and I/O-rich brick. I must have been very tired when I wrote that first post.
As a first product resulting from the HP/Voodoo merger, this baby is VERY impressive.
I absolutely love the power brick/router idea.
But I will wait for a 14 or 15 inch model with a DVD burner, DVI out, 54 Express Card, Biometric Finger reader.
And hopefully a NON MIRROR SCREEN.
joygasm~
ive got one here... my macbook pro. Splitting image. WTF why dont these cometitorsd give up. i cant wait for apple to pound them at their next conference. plus he new macbook and macbook pros with new designs are going to be released soon, hah old technology
My favorite microsoft product is...
T___T... what do you mean this isn't a Bill give-a-way?
LOVE MY IPOD!
damn why did I buy the lenovo u110 so soon?!
I actually liked the orange colour, it gives it a bit of style. But I'm sketchy about their marketing name - "voodoo" and "envy"...
The thing is a little too glossy for my tastes but good effort.
wow... i like how they jock the macbook pro keyboard..... mac 4ever!
This will be great for the CSI lab. It will catalog entire cities fingerprint databases before you even boot up.
Purrrrrrrrrrdy....
Looks a little too much like a blackbook pro if you ask me
Haha. It's really kind of funny that all that mac users have to reassure themselves that macs are still more stunning. Personally I think this little guy has more style than any mac on the market, but that maybe becasue it comes in more than 3 colors. This isn't as large as a MBP so whats the comparison, of course a MBP would pummel it and its also a MBP is almost 2X it's size. Wouldn't mind getting one!
Generalize much? Many of the above comments (including my double-shift-groggy double post) are from Mac users who prefer the features and look of the Envy. What I don't get is why people compare the Envy to the MacBook Pro when it's clearly a much-improved take on the MacBook Air, which was in turn a fresh take on a certain Windows-specific prototype.
Honest answer: I'll probably buy the 133 in a year or two, when the price is sane and the tech is out of date.
