Mindset Six50 solar electric concept is light, green, and a bit homely
As the big auto manufacturers scramble to come up with fuel-efficient alternatives for us gas addicts, smaller companies are swooping in with both concepts and production models. In the latter category, we have Mindset AG with the solar electric Six50 concept you see here. The 2+2 seater is designed to weigh just 1,764 pounds and measures about 13 feet long with a slab of solar panels over its haunches. Designer Mura Güntak expects the Six50 to run just about 62 miles per charge (although an optional generator can be added to extend this), do 0-60 in 7 seconds, and plans to roll out 10,000 of these bad boys by 2009 at the cost of $78,000 each.

What the hell is a gigawatt?!
Doc, you don't just walk into a store and buy plutonium! Did you rip that off?

It looks like a shitty home made station wagon version of the delorian from back to the future.....
Pimp my coffin.
1914 Ford Model T + 1991 Honda CRX = Mindset Six50
1. Promise the car of everyone's dreams
2. Take a long time designing it
3. Release pictures of a concept
4. Release crappy specs.
5. ?????
6. Profit!
Woo!! Good to see that someone gets this joke besides me :)
Looks like the backend of the car from the Last Starfighter.
Jeeeesus... $78k?
I mean, I get the point of the car, but you can buy a $28k SUV and you'll never spend $50k in gas. Especially if you can only go 60 miles at a crack.
These types of cars just aren't going to work until it makes sense to own one financially.
if they cut the size of the tires down wouldnt it get a bit better gas mileage?
em, its not run on gas?
Reminds me of Grandpa Munster's "Drag-u-la" dragster.

this car looks indeed intrsting...sorry did i say car??
Akhil... lay off the hasish my man
Love that classic fender-in-wheelwell look...
I like big butts and I can not lie.....
Can someone explain what they mean by 62 miles per charge? If it is sunny shouldn't this thing run all day?
Not even close. Google for solar racer to see pictures of what a car that actually runs off solar cells looks like. Of course, those cars are useless as actual transportation, as they have no usable space and are built like ultralight racing bicycles.
@jon... so how's that "uesless"? sounds great to me! travel light.
no way would i get one this thing looks like a hearse. can you imagine the looks you would get driving that thing around? talk about a turn off
did you miss the 10 other comments that said what you said or do you just like being redundant?
Note to self: Self, always make sure your post is does not ignore Phanbouy's previous posts.
actually xtort, i wasn't one of the 10, but you're a funny mofo either way!
Is this a real car? It looks more like a concept drawing from the 1939 World's Fair depicting the milk truck of the future.
Why are those wheels so damn large? Aren't larger wheels less efficient? If you're trying to make the most efficient car possible, why slap a set of 22s on it. Honestly, it just seems like the designers are idiots.
It looks somewhat strange but at least it isn't yet another 3 wheeler :) We're getting there!
Style? Where we're going, we don't need style.
What's with the freaking huge wheels?
I remember that body concept....it isnt new. Some of you remember the Pontiac Firebird back in the 70's ? Pontiac did a concept version where they stretched the back part into a station wagon design. Really kind of cool idea back then. There were only two made and if I remember the article in Pop Sci they were showed and then crushed. Here is a link I found that reminds me of the car in this article..... http://www.indiemonkey.com/firebird/
Man, I just had a flashback to childhood and "Ark 2". Of course if this thing comes with frickin' lasers and force field projectors like the Ark 2 I'm in. ;-)
Looks like a Nissan Pulsar with the station wagon hatch option.
I think the thing looks f**king fantastic. The price tag is the only thing hideous about it.
i don't know why but this reminds me of a Delorean
Amish DeLorean!
Not 3G just apple!

When are you guys going to learn that I don't want alternate vehicle to buy! Design something that I can retrofit on my existing Ford POS. Can the solar panel be flexible enough to put on the roof of my car?
Get out the flux capacitor, but can it do 88mph.
