Naise!
Can't wait to get 1...but i want 6 cell...should i do it ?
Yes. Yes you should.
No. Don't do it. 2.5 hrs isn't enough. Get 6-cell 901!
901? that overpriced POS ? nahhh..
btw, i called Fry's and they know nothing about it...
My Amazon order status: Not Yet Shipped: 1 item - delivery estimate: August 1, 2008 - August 11, 2008
If you drop one of these...
is that BREAKING WIND?
That's okay, we have enough wind over hear as it is.
Btw, we all know you are lying, nobody can own the wind.
Sure hope this wind doesn't break.
One can only inherit the wind.
Wow, the Eee has been out for 9 months now.
Uh, ok.
Eee: 4GB, 512MB memory, low resolution, slow CPU, small keyboard, no Bluetooth: $399
MSI Wind: 80Gb, 1GB memory, higher resolution, Intel Atom 1.6, 92% size keyboard, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, $499.
With your logic we can all settle for Osbornes.
You haven't seen the other iterations of the Eee that have come out since, have you.
Also where is MSI's SSD. If its gonna be in the same price range, at least have an SSD as well. 80GB hard drives are cheap now [more profit margin for MSI I guess]. SSD is the way to go.
Will it come with that awesome wallpaper of the little girl!!?!?!?!?11?!?!?
is that you, Flashpoint?
That sounded kind of dirty...
The John Walsh has been notified.
Why don't you have a seat over there?
She's right here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3136/2651235164_892f07c457_o.jpg
"It says here in your chat log....."
Is this the 3-cell version or the 6-cell version?
RTFA!!!!!!!
Take a chill pill. It was in the middle of the long press release. Things can be missed.
Oooo, yea. A whole 3 paragraphs is such a long PR. I got so tired reading it I almost didn't get to your stupid comment.
HOORAY!!!!!
IT IS NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS NOT SHIPPING.
Some of these places say they have it in stock. I was one of the many who ordered one on MWave.com. MWave just admitted they have not received any and basically don't know when they will receive any. They have not shipped ANY.
There are no retailers in the US shipping the Wind yet. This article is junk!
i didnt know mwave were every retailer listed in this article as a whole.
I've communicated with many people who have ordered from all of those sites, and no one has received anything, and people have reported that nothing has been shipped either.
NewEgg doesn't even list the Wind, or any other MSI notebook, on their site.
Nooo, I only ordered late June, so I'm probably not going to see mine shipped until the third wave or something. BOO.
bout damn time i'd say.....
Any word on a black version? Or 6 cell?
Either way, thinking of selling my original EeePC 4G now.
i'm holding out for the splinter cell version
how much ?
how much ?
Sold mine on ebay, got $300 (sold without shipping cost to try to boost bidding)... was hoping for 350. Oh well.
I dont find any mention on New Egg for the MSI Wind.
If NewEgg was selling it I would have bought there instead of considering any of the other crappy retailers listed.
Can't find any mention of it either. I never saw it there in the first place, what's this about pre-orders?
This is incorrect. The only Wind's that have shipped are from MSI's shop. MWave is the only other one to claim to have some in stock, and they are claiming to be shipping them back to the vendor (I doubt they ever had them.)
I just got my UPS tracking number from mwave.com for a white Wind 3 cell model (U100-002LA) and I should receive it in a couple of days. :)
So you really don't want to bother ordering one till late Sept when the 6 cell is available. Since what is the value of a low power subnote with a sub par smaller battery?
this is why.

my server had a hiccup. it did it again
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.
lolol ive had mine since 1st of july!!!, im in the uk tho.....
you mean you've had an Advent since 1 july?
the big msi logo on the lid says different
it is in the process of being shipped. someone at a warehouse posted these pics of the wind's getting ready to be shipped. scroll to the bottom of the page.

I thought the Atom was supposed to be cheaper. Drop the price and make the battery bigger.
Well, I've got an amazon pre-order, and definitely have gotten no contact from them. Newegg has NEVER had it listed as an inventory item, even the last time MSI put out a release indicating they would be available there.
Way to report based on a corporate press release rather than actually investigating a story.
Couldn't agree more, especially the last part. I've experienced the same as you.
How about new orders? Those pre-ordered units may have been ordered 2-3 weeks ago... What if I place an order now?
What about colors? I need the white!
I'll place an order only when I actually see the item in stock at ALL these vendors.
Woohoo! Septembers my Bday so even more reason to hold out and treat myself when they ship 6cell
me too waiting on the 6-cell with linux to ship, especially since i have like 3 legit xp licenses im not using.
I could be wrong, but I have heard repeatedly that the Linux ver. is currently not planned (ever) to ship with a 6-cell battery. Not that it's available right now in a 3-cell battery, anyway.
yeah but the article states in sept. that you'll be able to sub a 6 cell battery.
Sub? You'll be able to buy a 6-cell battery in addition to the 3-cell included with the computer.
I'll just be waiting for the Dell E now, it's supposed to get better battery life on a 4-cell battery.
That's a funny statement from somebody with a name like yours...
This is just not true. Newegg has not even listed the Wind yet.
The press release lies.
My place of work is an MSI partner and one of the first smaller shops in the U.S. to be bringing the Wind to market. This article is seriously misinformed. We've had pallets worth of Winds backordered for months, and I spoke with our purchaser today and MSI still has not even given us a ship date. We've had two delays already and have at least one major retail outlet breathing down our neck about it, as if we have any clout with MSI. Very frustrating. I really think MSI has hit a home run with this product, and maybe it's what will finally make them a household name, but they *really* need to ship something soon.
Endgadget: the message system is utter fail lately. Messages don't post, get page complete on the #thankyou page. Please un fVck this mess!!
it lookED good until it turns out to upgrade the ram you have to REMOVE THE BACK, and that is only to access the open ram slot.
If you were thinking about getting the Linux version then using your own copy of XP (saving you the license fee) there is a big bad problem.
The basic memory soldered to the LINUX version is only 512m so it will top out at 1.5 compared to 2g for the XP version
Plus right now all they have are the 3cell batteries because of a supply problem
The EEEPC competitor to the Wind is the 904H that matches it step by step, but you can easily buy the Linux version and open the SLOT and insert the ram needed and throw XP onto it
The Battery life on the wind needs a boost as well, there was some site that got the 6c version to compare and it was not that good on battery life compared to the others (30m difference I think)
I was totally stoked about getting a black 6-cell Wind back on June 16. I was one of those guys who was constantly hitting MSI's website only to be disappointed in the end. Now MSI will not have the 6-cell Wind until September. Any timeline on when the Dell E will become available? The Wind is a winner now, but will it still be a winner in September? My $500 is up for grabs, but MSI does not seem to want it.
Think you can load OSX Leopard on the Wind?
Think you can load OSX Leopard on the Wind?
BTW, is that to be pronounced "wind" like the verb or like the noun?
For anyone in Australia:
The wind has a single retailer selling for AU$699 (3cell) with no stock and no chance of a price drop
eee 901 starts at about AU$610 at several sites
go figure...
Judging from the response to the shipping delays it's pronounced whined.
"If you drop one of these... is that BREAKING WIND?"
Ba dum bum!
Mine shipped from mwave late last night.
Mine was received at 2:10 pm Wednesday. Black, preordered from MSI on June 16th. Still getting it configured to my liking, but overall impression is very nice.
From posts on msiwind.net it appears that all of the 300 they allotted for preorder shipped overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Got lucky and nabbed one from Fry's in San Diego; posting an unboxing video:
