Voodoo Envy 133 packaging revealed

As if it wasn't already clear enough, Voodoo is really going all out with its new Envy 133 laptop (and Omen desktop), and it looks like that extends right down to the packaging as well, as evidenced by this latest batch of shots provided by Voodoo founder Rahul Sood himself. As you can see above, the company has even gone so far as to include a microfiber sleeve with the laptop to add one more layer of anticipation as you unbox the thing. Be sure to hit up the read link below for the rest of the pics, including a peek at the acessories and some close-up shots of the keyboard.

Awesome, so they copied the Air's packaging, too.
fred @ Jul 9th 2008 3:54PM
I cant believe I did a Google image search just to see how stupid that post was.
Pochi @ Jul 9th 2008 4:00PM
Jesus Christ... awful... on another note though, it actually IS like the Zune packaging when you order from ZuneOriginals. A lot like it, actually.
thatrotierkid @ Jul 9th 2008 4:03PM
what? a box?
Boris @ Jul 9th 2008 4:22PM
1. Same flat-top box
2. Same flap to drag out the
3. Same laptop covering.
farfisa @ Jul 9th 2008 4:41PM
@ fred -- funniest thing I've read all day!
Mycroft @ Jul 9th 2008 4:50PM
does not look like a crappy manilla folder to me...
Someone on the Internet @ Jul 9th 2008 5:00PM
Wait, what? that doesn't look like a manila envelope to me.
Nick @ Jul 9th 2008 5:24PM
Dude, I agree with you. The first thing that came to mind was "woah, not only did you copy every spec of the air and raise the price, you stole its packaging!"
N30 G30 @ Jul 9th 2008 5:32PM
that's right, apple invented the bag.
And Manila should thank Apple for creating an envelope in their name.
joelovescoffee @ Jul 9th 2008 3:45PM
Is this gonna fly in the PC world? Base price $2099. It is beautiful! I love Carbon Fiber!! I guess it is good image for HP, maybe a lost leader....kind of like the Dodge Viper. They will sell more $499 HP's because they have VooDooDNA???
mike @ Jul 9th 2008 5:49PM
Yeah dude, HP is definitely a lost leader. Hahaha.
Boris @ Jul 9th 2008 3:46PM
Awesome, so they copied the Air's packaging, too.
OneLove @ Jul 9th 2008 3:47PM
boris = epic fail!
Anthony @ Jul 9th 2008 3:49PM
We heard you the first time.
Forrest @ Jul 9th 2008 4:21PM
To be fair, if you make a lot of comments it's beyond easy to get a double post. I hit the 'Add Your Comments' button one time and I got two confirmation emails.
Of course his comment is still awful, and he's a douche for not checking the email for what he was confirming...but we can't all be Steve Jobs now can we? ;)
Mycroft @ Jul 9th 2008 7:00PM
It is a well known fact that Apple was the first company to come out with a box.
CUBSWILLWIN @ Jul 9th 2008 5:49PM
...And the Manila envelope.
xB Owner @ Jul 9th 2008 5:57PM
No one is saying that Apple was the first to come out with a box. They were the ones who really brought it to the masses. No one really knew anything about boxes before the Apple box.
Besides, just having a box isn't enough. It is how you interact with the box that makes a difference. No one makes it easier to insert Tab "A" into Slot "B" than apple. And I couldn't imagine storing anything in a box that wasn't from Apple. There is just no comparing the experience of storage in an Apple box to anything else on the market!
asurroca @ Jul 9th 2008 7:06PM
I didn't think Boris' comment was funny the first time around, but the second time? Hilarious!
gabe @ Jul 9th 2008 3:46PM
if only computer nerds were so fashionable
oh wait yes t shirts and shorts are still cool
System48 @ Jul 9th 2008 4:25PM
That's what I always wear.
chickenator @ Jul 9th 2008 4:39PM
so u r pretty cool!
IT-Accountant @ Jul 9th 2008 3:46PM
hey! they fixed the ctrl button!
Michael Scrip @ Jul 9th 2008 3:55PM
Why do they make things shiny black where your hands (and fingerprints) are sure to go?
f14tomdog2 @ Jul 10th 2008 7:30AM
like cars... like cell phones... probably because black is one of the many colors available, and it looks nice. Things get grubby, not that hard to grab a cloth and wipe, and if necessary moisten the cloth a little.
p.s sry for harshness
wako @ Jul 9th 2008 3:55PM
I really dont want to come off as a Apple fanboy, but if it could only boot OSX and was half the price I might consider one. Sorry but no vista for me =P
IT-Accountant @ Jul 9th 2008 3:58PM
give it a few weeks, someone in the OSX86 crowd will have Leopard booting off of it.
DrunkMonkey @ Jul 9th 2008 4:30PM
I really dont want to come off as a Apple-hater, but if the MacBook could only run Crysis at the highest settings and cost $200 I might consider one. Sorry but no Mac for me =P
PCIV @ Jul 9th 2008 5:02PM
Sorry, neither can this. This is a 2k lappy with a X3100 Graphic card, WTF.
And I thought the blackbook was a rip-off...
Pochi @ Jul 9th 2008 7:25PM
@PCIV
Believe it or not, there is other shit included in the price of a laptop besides the graphics. LOOK AT THE THING. You think that should cost the same as a mid-level Dell?
f14tomdog2 @ Jul 10th 2008 7:34AM
yea, if only apple would stop being a dillweed and actually make their os available without having to purchase an overpriced, only serviceable by using expensive apple components computer from them.
Homeboy @ Jul 9th 2008 3:56PM
That thing is beyond sexy. Even the powerbrick and optical drive are mouth watering.
Jeremy Kemp @ Jul 9th 2008 3:57PM
Apple *has* been doing this with their laptops for years, but it's not like they have a patent on it. I think it adds a nice touch that makes the high price a little easier to swallow...
Jeremy K. @ Jul 9th 2008 4:08PM
This laptop is sexier than any apple machine I've ever seen.
farinasa @ Jul 9th 2008 4:12PM
It would probably cost less if this pretty packaging wasnt part of the manufacturing process.
farinasa @ Jul 9th 2008 4:14PM
Maybe it would cost less if the pretty packaging were cut out of the manufacturing process.
farinasa @ Jul 9th 2008 4:14PM
God damnit i hate this commenting system, sorry for the double.
Tyson @ Jul 9th 2008 4:17PM
Macs are not so much more beautiful, its that they function and don't force you to use Windows or better said they have OSX. That is their appeal. I think thi looks just as good if not better, esp. if they put the lazer decals on them
Lamp @ Jul 9th 2008 5:19PM
@Jeremy K.
it looks almost exactly like a MBP.
I am not going to say it looks better or worse,
but it looks nearly identical.
carbon fibre vs brushed aluminum.
imo i vote brushed aluminum,
less fingerprints.
-shrugs-
iHoppipolla @ Jul 9th 2008 4:01PM
Again...
This beauty with Efix.
Bust it... Baby.
joelovescoffee @ Jul 9th 2008 4:02PM
I agree that this is the kind of attention to detail that the Windows community could use for an image refresh. They sell more cheap models that could also use this attention to style! Show the poor folk some love in the style department. Targets got it going on with clothes....
naz @ Jul 9th 2008 4:11PM
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get...oh it's a laptop”
farfisa @ Jul 9th 2008 4:38PM
I would've expected that comment from the guy two comments below you.
Tyson @ Jul 9th 2008 4:13PM
Beautiful except it runs windows. I haven't tried Linux or Solaris but Windows, makes me happy I bought a MBP. I thought I would use it only in class and as a laptop but I haven't even started my PC rig or my tablet (except to get files off it) up in like 7 months. The MBP has taken care of everything. I throw in a vista partian to handle other needs and its good. I just wish wish omeone would force Apple to sell OSX for other machines and I would be all over this or other PC laptops.
jollyllama @ Jul 9th 2008 5:33PM
Way to explain why Apple will never license OS X in the same sentence you're asking them to do just that.
Tyson @ Jul 9th 2008 5:37PM
No I want them to license OSX. You think I want to pay an extra $500- $1000 so I can be a steve jobs lap dog? No! But I do wat a computer I can turn on and the OS works. it doesn't matter how good you make the computer, if the software sucks its going to suck. Bottom line, go ahead vote me down but by doing so you are endorsing Windows and Vista
Nas @ Jul 10th 2008 4:52AM
I own a macbook pro and I'm still going to vote you down, and not as an endorsement to windows but because you're a douche bag, and of course because I can =).
Oh and this post has little/nothing to do with apple, why must anyone bring it up? It's annoying seeing all comments eventually turn into a macfanboy/troll vs. other people battle royale.
Anyway for the on topic part of my useless comment;
this thing is sex, I like.
Deed @ Jul 9th 2008 7:41PM
Uh, yeah I endorse Windows and Vista. I turn on my reasonably cheap Dell laptop and I'm presented with a pretty boot screen that loads in a decent amount of time. I then go into my account and what do you know, after a little bit of time to load the large amount of stuff I have on there, I can then click things and they just work! It couldn't be simpler! It's like it's magic! Vista doesn't even bluescreen! It's like this software was made for me, it's a miracle of programming!
Tyson @ Jul 9th 2008 8:17PM
Ok I'm the only one who has a problem that vista required 15GB of hdd space, 128 mb min of video memory and 1 gb of ram just for your computer to function slowly and freeze from time to time. Right that makes a good OS esp. considering OSX uses half of that and has less freezing and better functionality. And what that even more true is Microsoft is planning to replace it in no more than 2 years, not upgrade replace. Also the fact that Bill Gates himself said it was terrible. Yeah thoses are all great things about Vista. Obviously you can do more with it then OSX but for everyday simple stuff you can't tell me you would not rather have an Envy with OSX than an envy with Vista
