Fujitsu Siemens' netbook entry gets revealed
It looks like Fujitsu Siemens have broken cover on the next member to get in on the netbook party. That's right -- the company is launching a cheap, micro-sized laptop in the coming months... just like everyone else. According to reports, the 8.9-inch device will clock in around €300 or €400 (about $470 to $630), and will likely sport some version of Windows (we're thinking XP, as is the case with the vast majority of these). The laptop will be part of the Amilo line, but little else is known about it at this point.

i will have one of these.
do you have to wash your hands after you use this laptop?
I guess is it is a bit of a reverse from the usual.
You get Siemens on your fingers from the Laptop, rather on your laptop from your fingers.
@ Greg
What?! My semen comes from my penis, not my fingers. You've got to be really messy/careless or engaged to get any on your fingers.
aww its had a baby laptop
Troll
Thank you for adding some elaborate 'zing!' to the article. I appreciate it very much.
not cheap enough for me, unless that's just from the conversion. granted i trust the fuji more than a msi wind or even dell e
holy hell. bibleman!
Joint German-Japanese venture = design disaster
I'm not so sure about that - I've had a Fujitsu Siemens Loox n560 for about two years. It's the best designed PDA I"ve ever owned (I've owned anout a dozen over the years).
What size is the bigger one? 20? I'm guessing the keyboard there is a standard size...
It's a 17 inches. Sorry for all the other post but the reply button seems to work half the time for me.
You sure Mam00th?
I mean any and all 17" laptops I've seen w/ a fullsize keyboard w/ a number pad on the side, they all were from edge to edge of the laptop... this one has a few inches of space on both sides still...
I mean unless they shrunk the keyboard for w/e reason, not entire sure how a 17" is possible... maybe 18 or 19... :/
From the source : "You can see the Netbook next to a 17-Amilo notebook, probably the XA 3530. "
From what I remember the 17inches inspiron I saw had space between the numpad and the keyboard.
its a 17, its about the same as the one i use, with the gaps that is.
tho come tho think of it, the screne and body look longer (height) so i can get why you think that.
Does anyone know the specs of these?
I pooped
The reply button doesn't seem to be working.
Well it just did... strange...
Fujitsu's Semens
Could we get any more irrelevant?
I mean at least Jonathan mentioned something from the article...
17 inches
17 inches
That's what SHE said
your "SHE" has a 17incher??!! oh boy...
as in, that's what she said when she looked at mine. Something I'm sure everyone else reading that comment got.
If you're reading that as her having the cock then you must have some WEIRD fetishes.
Is it just me or would you say $470 to $630 isn't a cheap micro-sized laptop.?
I don't get where people find value in an 8" screen netbook that retails for
what a 15" Dell or Asus sells for.
It's not a ne... a ne... a net.... I can't say it. It's a freakin' laptop!! It's also priced about right for most Fujitsu's.
Oh look, the reply button fails on me. That was meant to be to the second Ocean (im not 'clak') post
Oh look, there's actually 3 of them/ Well fuck me.
I have been wanting to grab a netbook since I saw the first one come to market. Now we have so many, I can't choose. Can someone please do a netbook roundup please. I need help making up my mind.
And I shall call him... mini-me.
i don't know why they bother building trackpads into these things, there're ridiculously small just give up and put a touch screen in for f*ck sake and give us a real decent keyboard instead. we're only going to mod one in there anyway
It's a lot cheaper for companies to put a track pad....
Trackpoint FTW
it's a nine incher. Just like my dongle
Oh, hai, clak.
But if you make this your coaster, what'll you do with your Apple TV?
Yeah the reply button is skynet under disguise...
check out the new intel metro mini laptop.
It's so cool it must be handled only with gloves on
C'mon- make a Linux version and drop the price. That's the only way it will compete with the 1000 eee models
Wasn't the initial point of netbooks to be a *low cost* highly portable laptop? There's nothing low cost about most of the machines being produced now... you can get a far more powerful system for the same or less. Sure it's bigger, but how often do you really NEED a machine with a 7 or 9 inch screen?
I agree. These are low cost if you compare them to what these sized laptops normally cost (>$1500 usually).
I want a small netbook that is around $400-$500. Once it starts getting past the $500-$600 range I might as well start looking at a regular 13" laptop.
I love apples too.
They taste delicious.
@ Everyone who hates Apple
Apple may be pricy, and have it's problems, but Macs and iPods/iPhones are cool
Damn, you trolls are creative. All that E had to post was "iPhone" and you jump to the defense of apple. A great deal of imagination and extrapolation is required to be so defensive in response to a post that's irrelevant to article.
Ocean, do you really get off on being buried like this? Is this the gadget blog version of small penis humiliation? Get some help...
gently with a chainsaw?
Ocean said (because the reply system is broken again...)
"No it's the gadget blog site of tasty, exciting, frilling, tender, juicy apples,
engadgets full of tasty apple products"
Did you read this? Did you really think that is made any sense at all?
I love pie, warm summer days and ponies!
I am running Mac OS X (10.5.1) with Vista and XP and Ubuntu on a old Acer Aspire PC! Shall I install it on this 17-inch hmm?
Luke Skywalker wants his notebook back.
