Hey Dell Latitude XT owners -- multi-touch is now yours. The 15MB update announced Monday is available to download for 32- and 64-bit Vista or Windows XP tablet users. Direct2Dell even posted a video hosted by a real live Texan to walk owners though the installation and calibration process. Yeehaw!

Texans are real?! I thought they were things of myth just like bigfoot, sea monsters, and the Dutch!
Callemin @ Jul 16th 2008 8:03AM

Boat or boot?
RL @ Jul 16th 2008 3:37AM
It's a firmware update; the hardware capability was (always) there but needed the embedded code to be updated.

my iPhone is better and has multitouch for more than a year :)
shiv @ Jul 16th 2008 3:53AM
So i am assuming your iphone can also edit Documents, Power points, Excels sheets?
I am also assuming it can connect to a projector and do a presentation in front of a business audience?
I am also assuming that you iphone can hold more than 64gb of Music/Documents/Media files?
What am i thinking... That's a lot of assumptions for one tiny phone that cannot even copy and paste and provide a decent push mail service tools for business oriented consumers
Sam Bambino @ Jul 16th 2008 3:54AM
Your iPhone is better? I seriously doubt that, you prick.
aard @ Jul 16th 2008 4:55AM
"ok you fools just compared a high powered laptop to a mobile phone :)"
No, YOU compared it to a phone... what's your attention span, 3 seconds? Didn't know goldfish used iphones... :S
Look, if an iphone fulfills all your (computing) needs, good for you, but most people still need real computers, so stop being a troll...
Paul Dullford @ Jul 16th 2008 7:42AM
Seriously, if you want a multi-touch computer for real, get one of the high-end Mac notebooks.
And no, your iPhone is not better when it can *not* handle copy and paste, prepaid, stereo Bluetooth, voice dialing or recording, computer tethering, Flash, Java (although it can handle JavaScript), most streaming audio and video, MMS, disk mode, Office files, iChat, video recording, advanced settings, over-the-air software updates, FireWire, turn-by-turn directions, more than 16GB of stuff (probably less because of the OS itself), or Skype, plus *requires* a $30/month data plan, and lacks customisability.
iofthestorm @ Jul 16th 2008 3:57AM
Aww, if it worked on all tablet PCs it would be sweet, but really multitouch isn't that great, especially on a tablet PC. The size makes touch kind of useless in my opinion. Wacom pens ftw!
iofthestorm @ Jul 16th 2008 3:58AM
Unlike some fruity companies...
TareX @ Jul 16th 2008 4:17AM
They said it was coming, if anything it's late.
"Multitouch" was subtly present in the selling deal of the Lat XT as a "future feature"..
Timothy Sottek @ Jul 16th 2008 6:39AM
You guys really don't get out of your hipster NYC pads, do you.

The 128 GB SSD mentioned days ago is still not available as an option!

NxP3 @ Jul 16th 2008 5:52PM
As a Houstonian, I don't appreciate your stereotype comments....
Just kidding, I ride my hourse to work everyday. Damn gas prices are so high you have to.
nguyendot @ Jul 25th 2008 8:15AM
This wont work on any other notebook. The notebook has to have a compatible capacitive touch screen. Not a normal resistive touchscreen.
